Charlton player- Game footage

edited April 2012 in General Charlton
Just hoping that when we get promoted and the financial situation has improved, the club will invest in a decent camera for filming of matches at the valley.

I've seen better quality on mobile phones than what we get on there. Would HD be too much to ask for? I personally attend all home matches but still like to watch over key parts of the game. It must be awful for those of you that live abroad/ too far away and can't attend.

Yes, it isn't good but living abroad it's better than nothing. Next year in the States we may see the occasional game as they do show 2 or 3 Championship games each week on the 'Fox Soccer Plus' channel which is Sky coverage (assuming we get promoted).

Its ALOT better than the old days ... when we dropped out the prem we had to set up an msn yahoo hooked up with a bloke sitting next to a radio in London... so you could listen to the link if you then passed it on to the next ex pat via yahoo..

So to listen to the games AND be able to see the goals its magic to be honest..

BUT as you man there says next yea rwe should get more coverage...
    IF we go up !!!

    Cant wait

  • I don't think it can be excused because it's "better than the old days"

The compression is so bad the halfway line goes wiggly on some highlights when the camera pans quickly... It's terrible, worst commercial video footage anywhere on the net.

This came up a year ago and we were told it would be addressed at some point... I have to say when we're up and there's better coverage elsewhere I'll probably cancel my subscription if it doesn't improve.

There's no real alternative which is why I guess no-one cares about the consumer experience... But the source footage must be a decent resolution in this day and age so there's simply no excuse.

Very disappointed with player, and it's the quality which is the main issue. The content is all great, but dodgy Internet streams are better quality!

Its nothing to do with the camera. I can tell you that footage is filmed in HD but the poor quality is all down to the capabilities of FLI and the player service

That's a fair point Olly, so hopefully the club would put more pressure on them to sort it out?
  • If It was in HD id be over the moon....

What pressure can the club put on? We are contractually committed until 2017 and they are a law unto themselves. They don't respond easily to the views of individual clubs because they have 70-odd in the scheme and from what I can see the average club is only interested in the payments they get.

However, they are making efforts to improve the look of the main site, so maybe they will get to this too.
