A Message For Chris Powell - Please Bring Paul Hayes Back

I'm sure CP is an avid 'frequenter' of this website :-0

Personally i'm pleased with a point today at Scunny , but i do believe unless we are going to sign a quality striker on Loan this week who is going to hit the ground running scoring goals , then we've got to bring Paul Hayes back , c'mon Chris ... you know it makes sense!

  • Prefer a quality loan to PH but it must be one or the other.
  • Its only worth bringing him back if he is going to put him straight back in the team.

Hayes offers little in the game changing/impact stakes when coming on from the bench.

Personally dont think CP will drop Yann so for me, Hayes isnt the answer.

I'd rather see a loan signing. Schlup is never going to happen so maybe someone like Afobe.

  • Schlupp came off the bench and scored for Leicester last weekend so while he's fit it seems unlikely City would let him go.

Then again we let Clarke and Hayes leave.
  • I agree about him starting unless Hayes walks straight back in to the team for a second chance with BWP then not sure why bother bringing him back.
  • We need another striker simple as that. With Haynes injured, Clarke out on loan, Hayes out on loan (ok we can bring him back if we want too) you can't have a bench with no decent striker as an option especially if you want to win the league. There is a week left of the loan transfer window. Powell must bring in either a decent young striker with something to prove or an old head up front who has a history of scoring goals (no not Euell, sorry he is not the answer for us and hasn't been a goalscorer for the last 4-5 seasons).

If Hayes does come back and starts on the bench because you wouldn't drop Yann or BWP he has to earn his place in the team like everyone else. My concern at the moment is the midfield which is not as solid as it used to be. Get that right and we will be back on track.
  • Never wanted him to leave! He is inferior to Yann but his partnership with BWP was much better.

I agree, Yann is a great 100% player with a nice touch but he seems to be the easy option out of defence bypassing midfield, he hasn't a great goal-scoring record and I wonder how many assists he actually has? I liked Hayes and he looks for the ball from midfield.
  • Message to Chris Powell: Do what you want/feel is best mate. You've got us to where we are and I, for one, trust you to do the right thing - even though others may not.

This, reckon he'll be back before the end of the week.

I think CP has done a fantastic job this season , and i do trust him , i think we have reached a crossroads in the season , and want him to get it right.

Was getting Schlupp mixed up with that guy from Leverkusen for a second.
Thought everyone was getting a bit carried away..

Said it all along, id rather have Donkey Hayes playing than Kermit just because he works better with BWP.
More gifted than Hayes but not the best option for the team and results
  • Steve Howard if not Schlupp?
  • what off it said.

Is Hayes going to start? No
Is Hayes going to be an impact player? No
Is he better then Yann and BWP? No

You're gonna have to stop agreeing with me. People will talk.
  • why do birds, suddenly appear....
  • Think we should bring Hayes back and put him in for Kermit. Kermit has been brilliant but when things are not going to plan we try and lump forward to him to much. Would be nice to mix it up a bit and I'm sure Kermit would be just as good coming off the bench. When starting Hayes linked up so well with BWP and the rest of the midfield and now his found his form again it can only be good for us.

Just can't see SCP picking Hayes over Yann it just is not going to happen. For all the arguements about defenders taking the easy out ball option and launching it forward he nevertheless wins more headers than Hayes will and is such an asset defending set plays as well. I have a lot of time for Hayes who was instrumental in our early season form but he just doesn't deserve a place over Yann imo; If it's an impact sub we want Hayes is not the man and it will have to be a loanee.
  • With all due respect the thought of bringing Hayes in for Yann is laughable. Kermorgant is possibly our best player (I think I will be flipping a coin between him and Solly for my player of the season) due purely to consistency of effort and achievement. It seems to me like too many people see our team as BWP with 10 men attached.
  • Agree that Kermorgant is one of our best players and l love his work rate, but teams have learnt to mark him out of the game and we just don't seem to have a plan B when this happens. What has happened to the passing game we are soooo good at and ripped defences to pieces? Hayes and BPW were the striking force when we were playing our best football, so maybe worth changing things around a bit and bringing Hayes back. Also think Kermy needs a break, he's getting battered every game.

Leave Hayes at Wycombe until the end of the season and he'll score more goals than yann has all year

  • Hayes is gone from the stats part of the OS, looks like he may not be coming back
  • Hayes offers a different, not neccessarily better option than Yann. At times you need variety to keep the opposition guessing. Hayes would give us that option and may be able to open up defences in situations where the BWP/Yann partnership is finding it hard to do so. Yann would also benefit from a rest as he has been bruised and battered in recent weeks.
  • Hopefully we can bring in a poacher/impact type striker to cover for brads until Haynes is back. Remember, If Kermogant gets injured, we can recall Hayes AT ANY TIME after the 28 days. Why bring him back to just get rusty on the bench again?
  • I expect him to be recalled today - if not a significant loan signing.
  • Bwp is scoring again so perhaps this isnt the problem, the midfield and bypassing it perhaps are?

    Wagstaff is back playing though...
  • Jason Euell is now back so we have another option for the bench until Danny Haynes is fit, in the meantime no point in recalling Hayes unless one of the front 2 get injured and he can go straight into the first team. Getting cover for Jackson on left is the top priority.

Have to agree with that, razil

  • I feel we need to get back to playing more of a passing game.Ok we need a new striker in on loan, but the constant hoofs up the pitch to Kermy are doing us no favours. We are at our best when we are playing a more high tempo passing game.We seem to have become anxious and resort to hoofball.
  • Hayes would be regarded as an impact player if he came on and did a quick one/two with BWP for a winning goal. To make an impact as a sub you don't just have to be fast or strong in the air. He's in form and I'd be happy to have him back.
