I haven't seen him play so .. if Powell thinks he's OK, he'll do for me. One doubt though. If we have bid more for his services than several PL Clubs .. can he be that good ?, or is it that he'd be great in the lower divisions and not so hot at the top
The article says we have tabled the best "cash offer" which is what Rangers need at the moment. I suspect some of the prem teams wanted to spread the payment based on apperances etc meaning Rangers have to wait for the money. I suspect this has a long way to run if the guy is worth having.

Sligtly strange logic. If there were no prem clubs interested you could come to that conclusion.
Mind you if it's Everton, Villa and Bolton that we are competing against and even not considering first team prospects then where would you rather live ?
Didn't we sign Hriediarsson off Ipswich in similar circumstances but couldn't play him until the next season ?
The Trotters are among a host of clubs to be linked with Wylde since he opted to walk away from Rangers earlier this month after the Glasgow giants entered administration.
Coyle did look at the 20-year-old in the summer before deciding not to make a move.
However, with Bolton now desperate to try and escape the Premier League relegation zone, Coyle might be tempted to look at Wylde again.
Although the Trotters have filled their 25-man squad, in theory they could sign Wylde as clubs are allowed to recruit an unlimited number of under-21s.
The situation is far more complicated than that though.
First of all, world governing body FIFA would have to confirm that Wylde was free to sign for another club outside the transfer window.
Then the Premier League would have to rule on the matter, mindful of their requirement to uphold the integrity of the competition.
It is new ground which, if it is not explored in Wylde's case, almost certainly would be should more high-profile Rangers players either be released or the club get liquidated.
"Gregg Wylde is a player we had an interest in back in August," confirmed Coyle.
"He is a talented young player who has been caught up in the turmoil at Rangers.
"His performances have been up and down, whereas last season there is no doubt he was at the top of his form."
Coyle confirmed he had not spoken to Wylde or his representatives about a move, although he is aware of the complications.
"Potentially anyone could be a useful addition to our squad," said the Scot.
"There would need to be some FIFA directive on it because it is extenuating circumstances.
"You would need to await what the outcome of that is before anyone acts upon it."
Despite his lifelong allegiance to Celtic, Coyle takes no pleasure from the ongoing troubles at Ibrox, which seem to take another downward turn by the day.
"I grew up in Glasgow," he said. "I am Celtic through and through and always will be.
"But I am a huge admirer of Rangers. I was always well treated when I went there as a player and Ally McCoist is a pal of mine.
"I feel for him. I look with dismay at how they got to that situation.
"You go anywhere in the world and people know Rangers. I am sure that will be the case again, as horrible as this present situation is.
"When they come through this they will get back to the strength and power they were before."
He may / may not see himself as EPL standard player. However the chance of regular football and better chance of an enhanced permanent contact at the end of it (either here or elsewhere), may push him in our direction for this season at least.
As someone who has seen him play live, I think he would be an excellent acquisition. But I have no idea as to how viable us signing him is.
I was speaking to a currant bun of my acquaintance and he was very complimentary about Wylde. Basically saw him as a similar standard as Chris Burke but with a better cross and finish, but had had a wayward big head period a la Charlie Adam, but seemed to be over it. I suspect we have heehaw chance of signing him though.

No, it was different. HH was under contract with Ipswich and we agreed to pay a fee for him - albeit one that was a lot less than his worth. Rangers are in such dire straits that Wylde agreed to cancel his contract so he is currently unattached. Nobody currently owns his registration, although I do expect them to put the begging bowl out as soon as he signs for someone.
Rangers fan at work not overly impressed with him. Says he is very very hit and miss even for a winger. Great pace but headless chicken. Not gonna take that much notice though as I doubt very much that he is on his way to us.
Everyone saying that he won't be guarenteed 1st team football in prem, how is he guarenteed it with us, he'd have to be something special to dislodge Jacko from the team
Wylde is a cracking player, according to my Rangers mate. Would be a great player to have in the squad next year and for years to come. Shame it never came off
Well rumour monger in the Scotsman has Wylde favourites to sign with us. The Sun puts him at Villa, The Mail claim we made the best bid, but he wouldn't step down to league one and he's signed for Bolton while Goal.com claim he's signed for Everton. Clear enough.

Maybe he's signing for everyone to make sure he gets a game!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
the online Mail is usually accurate when it comes to football stories, however I am skeptical about Fifa sanctioning the deal for the PL, is there a precendent? Have the rules changed since we signed HH?

Does the player work for the agent or vice versa?

Wylde is a free agent, contract cancelled.
Big difference.
But if our owners are that rich who knows?
