That was him in every phase. Excellent in summer, then fades, then has another purple patch around february. But even when he doesn't he can still be a factor.
Was year after year, when he got in the team consistently, our number one assist player. If you couldn't see how he improved in his crossing and general team play..... His improvement at protecting his full back was nothing short of phenomenal. Something supposed better players such as Ambrose, ZZ, Scott Sinclair, Racon and Semedo never showed. Can't see how you didn't rate his game intelligence, when he wasn't seemingly struggling for fitness, it was excellent. Now if you talk about him Tottenham away. Oh my days, but the improvement year on year was impressive.
I don't get how someone can be overrated if only a few seemingly rates them?
Exactly. I also don't get why Sam and Wagstaff get/got so much more criticism than Green, they're all different players yet there's not much between them.
Thought he was hugely overrated. Had an awkward style about him which would lead to commentators calling him a 'skilful and tricky' winger, but all we really saw was him running around on the spot in circles of the ball.
Plus he is one the laziest players I've seen at Charlton.
Jackson/Wagstaff/Kyel Reid/Haynes/Danny Green > Lloyd Sam
Not sure if I'm seeing things, maybe I'm missunderstanding what you've written? What is the link between Jackson and Lloyd Sam...........or indeed Jackson and any of the players you've mentioned in that list? Are you saying Jackson is lazy??
My interpetation SounadAsa£ is that they are all greater (better as a wide man) than Sam which is also my opinion (although Reid disappointed towards the end of his tenure) but best it comes from the horse's mouth I suppose.

Ah right oh...maybe that's what Tom means...can't believe he's calling Jacko...(or Waggy come to that) lazy....it's a bit unclear though.
He's saying all those players are greater than Sam. Which some are, whilst others such as Reid and Haynes are clearly not for Charlton. Unless of course you include Haynes who almost destroyed us at home when he played for Ipswich. But a few good matches for Reid, and many below average, don't make him better than Sam. Reid on form would struggle to get into a champ team, Sam did and more than that held his own in summer.
I don't know why I'm bothering really, but compared to Ambrose who we all know was played in the wrong position, Sam improved and adapted his game and became a factor. When in our worst team I've ever seen, Ambrose did fuck all for a season and a half and disappeared time after time, Sam made himself one of our out balls and never hid whilst being our only hope of assisting for a goal. Still I suppose most of our fans like players to be pretty and do fuck all like ZZ, Racon and Ambrose.
Is Sam a top draw player? No. Would I have been happy for him to still be in the squad? Yes. Would I want us to sign him? No, summer and spring is not enough even if he makes it fit to summer! And yes without injury he is superior to Jamal Campbell Ryce: I've seen him in the flesh a few times, couldn't believe it when he had his one purple patch season in the champ. Possibly I missed something there, but I believe a fit Sam would be more of a factor year on year than Jamal who looks like an average league one player to me: even if his top form is 1/2 a season, he still works for the team.
Neil Warnock proves yet again what an astute manager he is. Has taken him just a couple of weeks to get rid of Lloyd. A player who will forever remind me of the bad times. Fancy boots, pulling out of tackles. Could have always skipped a shower because he didn't get dirty or sweaty. Hopeless waster.
I think Lloyd sam was one of the underachievers we have had at the club he always promised more than he delivered so not for me would prefer to get a player with a bit more fire in the belly
Could be a good move for Lloyd the talent waster. Curle could well the the manager he needs, one who encourages him with a regular kick in the derriere. Notts County is making a bold bid for the playoffs. I wonder if they'll pass Forest on the way up.
A good deal for both Notts County and Lloyd Sam, the move to Leeds didn't work out and he has something to prove. Interesting to see how he fares against the Sheffield clubs - big rivals of Leeds.

some even rated him better than ambrose.
