Next "NEW" Shirts

edited March 2012 in General Charlton
I'm sure this won't happen but when our new shirts come out (and this is not a Charlton thing, it's a thing with 99.9% of teams) but when they come out the sponsors name will still be that peable material. It's pealing away on the home shirt and on this season's white away shirt. I have seen it both on Charlton and other football teams shirts with the sponsor pealing away. and I've have the Macron pealing off on the white away as well.

We used to have felt for the sponsors. That was much more durable but got discoloured. For example whether it be white or black it would go grey.

When we played our only game at the Keepmoat Stadium (Doncaster) their sponsor was embroidered like the badge and the kit supplier logo. Sometimes the sponsor name is woven into the fabaric. Why can't more teams embroider their sponsor in. It would last a lifetime and not get discoloured.

Doubtless though our new shirts along with all other teams new shirts next season will have that pealable material.

Comments

  • I am guessing they use the peal able stuff because of costs?
  • I can't talk for what doncaster have now that looks peable.

    Def peable, bruv.
  • I have to be honest, I wear my cafc shirts once to twice a week for football and I've never had any peeling issues.

Still have an all sports one that hasn't peeled!
  • If you wear it everyday then it prob will become peable. I personally prefer shirts without the sponsor so i wouldn't mind it being peable.
  • How many "New Shirts" threads do we need anyway?

Had every shirt since '95 and I've never had a peeling problem. I honestly think some people aren't careful when washing them. Low temperature wash people!

    bang on.

I always wash at 30 or 40 maximum depending on what is joining it in there.

  • I wash at 30 (save the polar bears and that) but both the KRBS and one of my little macron men on the shoulder have worn off completely. On my home shirt that is.

  • Shouldn't be wearing a replica shirt once you hit 16/17 anyway............
  • It's because all our sponsers go burst before the end of their contract with us. It makes it easy to change during the season.

Really? Why is that? I wear the team colours proudly, as a supportive gesture.
  • I wash at 30.

Problem is I live at number 11.

    (With thanks to Bob Monkhouse.)

    I'll get me coat.
  • sad advice but - wash them inside out to protect the logos !
  • judging by some i see i dont think they wash theirs at all! mind you theres a few who sit near us who dont wash any of their clothes by the look of them!
  • Sounds like i made the right choice sticking with my shirt from 5/6 seasons ago, i new my cheapness would pay off.
  • I actually wash my shirts in the white wash. Sounds crazy I know but the red doesn't run (due to the type of material used) and this prevents dis-colouring of any white trim. Saw plenty of the old mesh shirts where the fuzzy felt type writing was a nasty grey colour. Also never had an issue with peeling. The Woolwich writing on my old admiral shirt strarted to crack, but as it was over 20 year old, this can be excused I suppose...............................
  • Im really careful with my collection...however, all of the Macron shirts are peeling, the white training shirts have peeled completely......not a fan of the transfers, hope the next generation are different......have to say the red home shirt is the best in a very long time, apart from the peeling of course!!
