One game at a time!

Shouldn't we all just concentrate on this old adage for a while? Read SCP's post match comments and he is concerned that we are all getting carried away/ complacent and looking ahead towrds promotion too much - whether that is management, players or fans.

And it is true on here - with threads on the run-in and all sorts about all the forthcoming games. I'm as guilty as the next one in looking ahead to Carlisle.

Perhaps we should only be focussing on Scunthorpe right now and what it will take to beat them? I bet that is what is happening at the training ground this week...and it seems like a good way of calming nerves too.

  • I think a draw at Scunthorpe would be a good result.

Weegie, i think you've hit the nail on the head , we've spent so much time talking about next season, what players to buy , what players to let go , what were going to miss about League 1 , we've taken our eye off the ball and started to believe our own hype.

Let's get back to what got us in this position , do what we're good at well, try and cut out silly errors were making and focus on one game at a time , best post I've read on here since the weekend, let's get behind the team as the fans did on Saturday, I thought the noise from the North was amazing, let's back the team from the first whistle.
  • I agree i was one of those getting carried away , getting a bit complacent thinking we have done it we are there Tuesday and Saturday bought me back down to earth as I guess most of us and the team and management . Chris will of told them that at half time where I do believe words where said in the dressing room and will have them fully focused for Saturday A wake up call for us all . COYR
  • Never a truer word spoken. We've had a good kick up the backside, deservedly. What nicer place than Scunthorpe to spend your time thinking about !
  • Stop the rot and rebuild is key to Saturday, performance does not matter the result and response does

take a point right here right now

I think you are right Granpa if you need a reminder of why you want to get out of this shit house league look at Scunnys ground and facilities

they are a good club no disrespect from me in that way meant

but as a footballer you dont consider that as the top of your trade and if you want to stop playing there then get out of this league

  • it's very true, the people of Sheffield can look at the 10 point gap and take heart from Arsenal .... 16 days ago they were 10 points adrift of Spurs, now the gap is a single point!!
  • This time last week we all thought the league was won but it never is until mathematically we can't be caught. We still have to win at least 4 games to get promotion.
  • You are completely correct.

However, at any stage of the season, and no more so than this stage, your home form is the bedrock for a promotion chasing team.

That currently doesn't look a given. Evidence tells us we are a better away from home side, mainly because we are bar Saturday defensively sound and teams will play further up the pitch against us when they are at home, leaving more space.for us to attack when we break.

So with that in mind, and given the nerves that have clearly crept in in the last couple of games, a win on Saturday is much needed.
  • After leaving the stadium at bournemouth ill admit I'm guilty for saying 'were up' for the first time this season. After finding out sheff wed drew, sheff u lost and we got the 3 points I thought we had done it.

Now I'm going to keep my mouth shut until the little p is next to our name on that table
