The club MUST maintain a balance between success and the expenditure necessary for that success. A squad of 22 is, to my mind, more than enough for a club in our present division and economic position.
hmm ok, but perhaps a revolving door creates a bit of instability, players then need time to gel etc. Hayes and Benson are my two bugbears on this front
Benno wanted out and dropped a division. I liked him myself but Powell's hands were tied on that one and he did well enough to get a player out of the deal

some of the 'outs' are hard to fathom .. Clarke for Benson ?, Haynes for Hayes ? .. we don't know what goes on in private, for all we know (e.g.) Benson and Powell might hate the sight of each other and it just would never work between them (awwwwwwwwwwwwww)
Despite being on the back of two defeats, pretty difficult to class anything as a mistake when you're ten points clear at the top. I think the squad is pretty much perfect - some very competent players - Hughes, Hayes,Cort, Wagstaff, Haynes, Evina, hopefully Clarke, Russell, Bover all struggling to get in the side or even on the bench but there to be called on if needed. A lot of those players would be getting a regular game for Championship sides, that strikes me as a pretty decent squad.
All is well ....10 points clear...Let's think about that and how everyone else in this league wants our position.:))
very true, that doesn't mean some mistakes haven't been made, but outweighed perhaps by some very good decisions.
I have mixed feelings on it, I think the revolving door can be a problem, I guess it really depends on who comes through the door, for me tho this to a much larger degree was a problem under pardew
On the other hand I think it can keep the squad hungry and lean, I do wonder though if it has been enforced from above (CP) or if it's his actual policy
so who are the squad then (stattos?) do we include people like alonso? and others who've not made any 1st team impact?
good question .. we're not subject to the named 25 rule .. soooo .... it could be anyone who's allocated a squad number .. I suppose it comes down to who's perceived as a first team regular and the chosen few on the bench as well as a few more who would be 'expected' to play if the first choice was injured or suspended ..

There are such things as budgets that have to be stuck to. Otherwise where would we be - Greece, that's where!
Lord Lucan went missing during the match.
