There are of course quite a few Charlton related books which come under the category of 'must have items' for your Charlton collection. As I'm undecided whether or not to buy a copy, does anyone have a view on whether or not this book is, or will become, 'a must have item'?
What is wrong with this thread? All the other's show that I've seen all posts, this one still shows two mystery unread ones despite me keep opening it.
To be fair it does not compare with the books by proper authors and I question some of his assertions such as Lawrie Madden being our star player in 1979 /80 ,but I say good luck to him .
I don't think he is as stupid as some make out and he certainly enjoys the fame that this gives him .
However ,I'm not expecting the book to gain in value on as a collectors item though
Wonder how many were rude to his face as they are in here?
Well done 40 sold
Hopefully more were rude on here then to him. 40 seems like decent, I hope they enjoyed his hard work.
Talking straight now i have found JA annoying like most in the past and if i am 100% honest i was cheesed off with Reams for allowing him back on ITV, but he was given his own section on our site and told to keep with it and leave the other parts alone, he has come over to the main section now and again and to be fair put in his place and gone back to his own section as told, with no crumbles from him.
But what ever people think of him he has put his money where his mouth is, how many of us could say we have done the same? not many, but people still make snide comments about him and his book, not many would put the time and effort in as he has.
It might not be the greatest, not seen it so cant judge myself, but give the guy a break he has put his time and money where his mouth is and done it despite all the abuse and doubting over the years.
We are all CAFC at the end of the day so if you dont want to buy it dont but dont take the piss.
Also no i don't know him or have i met him but i am am willing to give the guy a break and get behind him.
Off It i know what you mean by that post its plain to see what and who you mean and what your saying, this is the same as what JA gets on a daily basis. not just a feud between people and the wrongs and rights do not need dragging up again here.
Maybe the last few months have changed ny views on people and life due to personal circumstances i have experienced, but i feel that we mock people to much without knowing them, i for one am gulity of this over the years.
I don't believe I have mocked anyone LB. It's just my view and I stick by it, take it or leave it.
Jesus Off It - i said it clear WE mock peole to much without knowing them, that was clear with the first word WE as in people in genereal and not aimed at you or any one single person, life as a whole fella
I don’t know Jonathan Acworth, but saw him selling his “book” and decided to part with my cash, to purchase a copy! Having read it in ten minutes, here’s my totally independent summary.
To start with, let’s dispel any misconceptions, this is not a book. It can best be described as a brochure or pamphlet. It has though been well produced on good quality paper. It is essentially a collection of photographs, some of them very good, the majority of them mediocre and some truly bad ones. There is little thought to the composition of the photos and some seem to have so little relevance (Joe Swash???) or be repetitive that they seem to just be padding out the pages.
The writing is very basic; it doesn’t flow and contain many inaccuracies and a few typos. It tries but fails to bring out the excitement and despair of some of the real high and lows of supporting Charlton. It certainly won’t go down as a collector’s piece and for me; it would probably have been best kept as one man’s personal project. In its current form, I don’t think there’s enough content to have warranted printing and trying to sell 1000 copies. 3/10.
Having said that, I hugely applaud Mr Acworth for the belief in his project. For making the effort and the financial commitment and actually getting this into print. He has achieved what a number of people would like to do and for commitment alone 10/10.
www.charltonfan.tv to order copies of books through the website every copy sold a £1 will go straight back to the club so lets try and sell all 1,400 copies so a £1,400 cheque goes into the club which i will present on the pitch before or during half time one game next season.thank you for your support on the book

p.s 5 copies still remain in the newsagent moorgate next to locksmiths

Come on, someone who's got it must be able to do a quick review for the benefit of the rest of us, surely?

He's 'D' list.

Good luck to the fella, He's backed Himself to do something most people would like to do.
(Is that "Airman" on the very left of the cover ?)

Fair play to Acworth for getting his photos in print and hopefully he will make a few pound from it.
