  • Will it be going into Waterstones and Amazon?

Have a mate who self published a novel. He sold through Amazon and was royally ripped off. He stopped using them pretty quickly.

  • LB, I'd be careful making statements such as "the club have Ok'ed it" unless you know that to be true first hand.

Doesn't appear it is being sold in the Club shop from what you have said.

As far as I know, the only comment the club has ever made was via Matt Wright on twitter.

All he said was he'd seen a copy. Not sure Matt could ok it?

  • A few messages from Ackie

1.no copyright issues all own photos
2.amazon are a complete rip off want 60 per cent of any asking price to any book that leave u £3 or £4 quid no not using amazon because their prices to high.We are in talks with waterstone as my auntie is having discussions with a few people so im hopefull they will say yes. What they have said to her which is quite interesting as its a one off doesnt need have isbn nuber which is really good news so way we have done it is put jonathan acworth copyright in front cover
3.This book is to help charlton fc out in near future so the more people buy it will help the club so the more buy it the more i can do re runs on printing.
4.will their be a follow up i thinking about doing a who concert book so if anyone has any photos when the who played at the valley that would be good and we could do it the same way as this where a £1 goes to the club.
5.left behind doesnt know me ,never met him but he be more than welcome to come and help out vs orient

5.lb tell henry it hasnt gone in the club shop because they didnt want to stack it in their i think they only stack books from players ie gary nelson or club employees like richard reddon whos the historian, ive been told as its all your own photos its ok .Im hoping once they see it selling well they will change their mind on this but im happy we are allowed to sell the book so this is why its out now so we can get as much interest going and hopefully change their mind on stocking it left behind pass on to henry for me cheers

Anymore questions you know where is is pop and ask yourself
  • Jon, Richard Redden isn't a Club employee and they still stock the When the Robin Stopped Bobbin which was a self published book by a fan.

Good luck, I'll buy a copy at Yeovil
  • Does he have a permit for his stall?
  • Does he have a permit for his stall?
Not his stall the person who runs the stall is allowing him to use the stall

  • I hope he doesnt have copyright issues. A few of the pictures I have seen look professional and the one of the empty North Stand I've seen printed elsewhere.

He's also run 1000 copies off and is talking about printing another 2000. If you have any influence LB talk him out of that.

He's bonkers but you still wouldnt like to see him loose a fortune on this.
The problem is, people meaning well might buy enough copies from him convincing him to do a second print run. The geezer is definitely not the full ticket - and whilst I've been as guilty as others of taking the piss out of him down the years, I think this is actually pretty serious. If anyone 'knows' him, they might do well to suggest the silliness of printing out another run of his 'book'.

Ackers is the kind of bloke who will end up a millionaire after 105 failed ideas - all of which everyone but him could see the pitfalls of - but on the 106th, he'll hit pay dirt...

If i did it would read " help out vs Orient and i will give him £50.00"
  • Sorry but £7 for 45 pages is why I will not be buying it - no matter who wrote it.
  • How many pages in the programme these days?
  • Malcolm Hardy was as 'crazily eccentric' as they come...but he led a good and varied life and tried many things until he found his niche in life.
I'm guessing here, but I suspect he and Akkers are quite similar in many ways.
  • James Milner with glasses if that's his photo above.
  • Good luck to him, if anyone loves the club as much as him then I can't see a problem, good luck JA.

You can't even get a pie and a pint for that so whats the problem!
  • What if JA goes on to be prime minister, what a piece of historical literature it's set to become, and think of the value!
  • i ll be buying one ,give the lad his credit ,hes charlton mad and i ll support him lets put the cost in perspective a progamme is £3.00

AND he is obviously not a cl clique member !
  • Over the years I like many others have read Akkers on the various web sites, laughed at his strangulation of the English language and his "inside" knowledge on the next big signing. But you know what the world would be a much duller place without people like Akkers who do everything with good intentions and sometimes it comes good for them.

Best of luck Akkers old son you keep on being you.
  • He is coming into Charlton Live for an interview with us next week to talk about the book.
