Why No Changes?

edited March 2012 in General Charlton
I'm sure I will get slaughtered for saying this but I'm not having a go or moan at Chris Powell. But I just couldnt work out why no changes were made yesterday?Cant think of any other managers who wouldn't of made changes at 4-0 down?Im not saying the result would of been difficult but other players or things could of been looked at and even a couple players rested.

  • That was meant to say different and not difficult as regards the result?Doh!
  • cos our subs are pony
  • That did cross my mind Mortimer!
  • Your a striker on the bench and four down at half time- you don't get on, how do you feel.

I think SCP was mindful of the injured players (eg Jackson) out there after Haynes went off after 10, 15 minutes or whatever it was and didn't want to leave himself short if they couldn't last the 90.

Other than Waggy perhaps I don't think any of yesterday's bench merit the description "impact sub" so perhaps that was another reason. He felt our best chance of salvaging something from the debacle in the first half was to leave it as it was.
  • out of the ones on the bench i might of brought Cort on for one of our defenders who all looked tired.

Even though i think he is naf, I’m surprised Clarke wasn’t given another go.
  • Would have been better to include this on the Questions for Powell thread or Post Match thread otherwise just re hashing previously posted comments
  • I think the response was pretty good. We scored 2 goals in 12 minutes and very shortly afterwards should have had a pen.
Not really surer what change you think might have helped
  • I agree it was a great 2nd half response, maybe 3 up front last 20 mins we had nothing to lose!

  • Maybe Cp thought "right, you lot have got us in this shit position, now you go and dig us out of it". Besides, making one or two changes might look like he was making scapegoats of the 2 players coming off. Live as a team, die as a team.....................
  • When a team is good enough, but underperforming, you want to give them a chance to turn it around. They almost did and, if a few decisions had gone the other way, then perhaps things may have turned out differently.
  • @tangoflash, you beat me to it
  • Tango and Lookie - I just posted the same on the post match thread!
  • If the team are looking complacent then I'd bring in some of those who want to fight for a long-term place in the team.
