a bigger loss

For me would be if the members don't vote in favour of keeping the lib alive tomorrow

Come on folks do the right thing , I know that some of the membership don't like the football crowd but without us the club would've died ages ago

Save the lib

Valley pub = gone

Horse and groom = gone

Lib =?

Getting pissed off losing good boozers on matchdays if it happens I am going to start going to the antigalligan and bollox to the away fans rule

  • Any news ???
  • Whats happening to the Lib?
I haven't heard anything about this, I drink in the RoD.
  • A vote to turn half into flats and to start again with a new layout in the remaining bar area , will reduce the bar areas but atleast it will stay alive

If anyone knows how the vote went post it up please
  • Interesting NLA.

Was in there last night with a few mates after the game. Once the Addicks had departed, there was literally only one bloke in there sitting at the bar. Not sure if it's because regulars don't go in there on match days but that would surely not be sustainable?!

It's always been our venue for post-match drinks, would be really sad to see it go.
  • Come on guys someone must know someone who is a member there ????

is it going to be open for the next home game because if the motion was not agreed today i was told that potentially it will be closed by the time we play Yeovil
  • Any news
  • Nothing send billy a message on bookface see what he says
  • What the hell is happening???????
  • Adele said last night it will be open for the next game
  • Blimers ! You get live singers at the Lib as well as cheap beer !

  • open for the next home game, will be taking it game by game, if the members didnt approve the redevlopment then the tax man wants his money and its bye bye lib, basically the building would be split in half, half for new flats then the other for the club, allthough not sure how this would affect there licence ect.. having partys till midnight when theres flats in the same building.
  • as much as i love going to the lib before and after, it really does need an overhaul, the fosters from 1pm till 2pm was shocking, think mog took 2 pints back as they were shite, think the last 3 seasons in a row we have had a save the liberal thread, i know for a fact that when we beat leeds the money they took after the game kept them going for a long time, its a catch 22 situation down there, the place is grotty both in side and out, it could be lovely but of course this would come at a cost which they just dont have, i would never think of hiring the lib for a party or a do as its grim so maybe if they got a new club built as part of the deal this would help generate income, get adele and the other barmaids on dragons den and scare the pants out of the dragons to give them some cash.
  • Hopefully the new design / space will make it a better more profitable place. Can I please be the first to bid for the Thames Barrier artwork, starting bid £5?
  • I don't care two strokes if it's grotty

It's a football pub and serves its purpose well its big and clean. Some of the best places I've drunk in are like the lib in the sense they are not shiny and like macdonalds with a licence.

Rather the lib than the oak (cant move inside and not much room outside) the bugle (yeah alright) or bloody floyds. The only way to help is to drink more beer in there every game
  • I might make the Lib my pre-match watering hole.
But only to help a worthy cause of course...
  • Just been told it is staying open hopefully taht means the membership have agreed the plans
  • Just seen this Bro sorry m8 kayleigh phoned me after the meeting Sunday to say the clubs staying open and they are going for the refurb. Not sure if that means the closure if the back half like we were talking about sat and the making of a bar and function room upstairs. I'm in there thurs and will try and get more info
  • Yeah it means the pool table area and the back bar close after this season ends and they start work on the main bar area, Thank god its been saved its a great football boozer

  • If they turn half into flats then it won't be long until the other half gets its licience revoked, the 'business was here befroe the housing' doesn;t wash anymore and if there are a few complaints then licience will be provoked.

Slipperry slope to the Lib being no more!!

  • I work for Sheps and I know that we hold a charge over the property in question, I can see any change to the building with Plans & councils & committees dragging that out for years before anything actually happened, not sure how it can survive even that long to be honest.
  • Glad it is staying open but if it is half the size it is going to get very crowded on big match days. Bad enough some times in this division when a local or big northern side come to town.

Agree with Carter. It is what it is. Sure a re-furb would be great and help with non-footie days but as a pre- and post-game place for a drink and to meet up it is fine.
  • I hope it survives as it's a decent place for a pint on match-day, always loads of banter going on too.

If it gets busy we'll have to ban people bringing flags in, and taking up space :-)
  • Its empty durring the week unless the darts teams are at home. The last Friday game we played had only 2 people in there not involved in the darts. I am bringing a london superleague side into the club from next year so they will have a Monday side next sept. And I pre booked me 40th party for sept as well lol
  • then licience will be provoked.
I provoked a licence once. Won't make that mistake again. He got me with a lovely right hander and told me never to provoke him in front of His Old Mum.
  • What about the cons club?
