Andy Jones was one of Lennie's rare poor signings. We lost a lot of money when we eventually unloaded him and he drifted down the leagues ending up at the O's I think.
I must concede that my grandfather, Fred Lucas, flopped rather badly at Palarse. Ended up rowing with the club over him not being able to play due to a leg injury he sustained. However, is that a bad thing (to flop at *THEM*)?
Gordon Watson came through the ranks in the early nineties and looked a great prospect. Went to the Wendies (and Southampton?) and quickly disappeared.
Bit harsh. Played in Europe for Wednesday, went to Soton for over £1m and had some good spells for both. Filthy tackle by some Huddersfield thug ended his career (Watson successfully sued him).Smart bloke actually, judging by his occasional slots as a radio pundit.
Story from years ago, happened to be staying at the same hotel as the team. Lennie Lawrence was at breakfast with the coaching team at a table next to mine. Someone said to Lennie, "You'll never guess, boss, Gordon's only reading the Financial Times." Lennie's response was "Gordon who?"
Amazed by Yassin Moutaouakil's decline. He looked like he could have been a very good player for us in the beginning and even played for the French U21 team. He's still relatively young so I'm surprised that he hasn't been able to pick up a team at at least League One level.
Hales' flop was at Derby where he went on good money in 1976 only lasting a year then went to West Ham before coming home at West Ham he scored 10 in 24 appearences so not a flop there really.
I seem to remember Killer went to Derby when they were struggling: they sacked the manager who signed him (Colin Murphy?) and brought in Tommy Docherty who didn't reckon him and sold him to West Ham.
Comments
Even though he's playing a division lower for Swindon, he's still racked up an impressive 8 goals from just 13 League matches.
I watched your grandfather play!
:-)

Jon Fortune, went to Sheff Utd but couldn't break into their team.
FACT
Sankofa has now gone to Eastleigh. Surprisingly he's still only 27, as it seems an eternity since he played for us
