Forum aside, I actually heard a few boos last night in the Lower North, and also shouts of "you're f*cking useless Green/Hamer/BWP" which is outrageous considering where we are and how well the team's performed all season, I even heard two fellas slating Jackson for his lack of pace, apparently he's "not a winger" either. We do have some fans that have no knowledge of the game.
There are always going to be a few people like that (unfortunately), but I thought in general the reaction from the crowd at the final whistle was very supportive.
I can be a bit wrist slitting on here. I'll state that we are only 12 points clear of third in real terms if Huddersfield win their game in hand for instance.
However I always without fail support the team at matches and applaud them off except when they haven't put a shift in which has not happened at all this season.
Some of our fans pi$$ me right off though. There was almost a punch up in my block last night and plenty of isolated pockets of booing. I've been accused on here of being keen to have a go at our fans so I'll say two more things. Firstly the bloke that sits next to me has missed a lot of games through work and hasn't been in 2012 until last night. His comment was: "I don't believe this crowd even after the season we've had they're looking to turn on the players" so it's not just me! Secondly I must give credit to the Covered End Choir for "Colchester who gives a **** we're Charlton Athletic and we're going up" followed by "We love you Charlton we do" I was despairing of our fans at that point and those chants restored (some) of my faith in our crowd.
I'm giving serious consideration to whether I want to pay to listen to vitriol and hate next season though given that we've lost ONCE at home in 17 games. God help us next season if we do manage to get promoted when we inevitably lose more games than we have this time!

must have our fair share in NL.
some pearls of wisdom I heard last night included-
"get it in there" when we were keeping the ball at the back and

I think I know exactly where you sit! The 2 guys who were slating Jackson sit directly behind me.
I think they were taking a moments rest from their constant dissection of BWP. They seem to have a particular disliking of our top scorers, they used to crucify Deon Burton every game from start to finish.
Lost 3 games in 35. 13 points clear at the top. 11 games to play. What's the problem? Seem pretty impressive stats. Maybe we need to win every game by 3or4 clear goals, may please the majority of people but I will put money on some complaining. This is the best team we've had for a while, lets enjoy it.
I don’t think they should be slagging the players off unless they put a time frame on it. for example.. "for 20 minutes now you've been f8cking useless Green ." or "you’ve been an idiot wright phillips for the last two games."
BR7_addick you must of heard me then, because i said Jackson doesn’t have alot of pace- which he doesn’t, and i also said his not a proper winger - which he isn’t. He's a left midfielder. His pace stops him from getting past defenders. He's still a good player but he aint no winger. we have full backs that provide the neccesary width down the flanks.
I had a bloke on one side screaming to hoof it up to Kermorgant. He must have shouted "Just get it up there" every time a defender had the ball. To my right, a more considered chap was shouting "That's it, keep playing to feet. Be patient."
Who was right? I thought we played a bit too much Kermorgant, but we didn't do a lot wrong.
One guy in the north upper said the reason we was losing because there wasn't 25,000 fans there.... then stated it's a FACT!!! He's been there for two games and both of them just slagged everyone off, saying we're shit, and the moment we lose the ball he's screaming at the players. The guy is either pissed up or a loon!
The guy behind me said it was Powells fault we were losing, I pointed out is was also his fault we were 13 points clear at the top with eleven games to play. Funnily enough he didn't have an answer to that.
Given that we're 13 points clear at the top of the League and have played some superb football in the process...
Why do people leave the ground 10-15 mins early when we are 0-2 down?
Given the complete drivel we have had to sit though for the last 4-6 seasons how can anybody possibly boo or moan at the players on this team?
This is a very weird version of supporting your team. and I just don't get it.
It's called Charltonitis .. and has been found around SE10 in small but vociferous clusters since about 1920 .. I have had to suffer the consequeces of this nasty disease off and on since 1961 whenever I have been spectating at the valley. There is NO known cure except tongue removal or death
There would have to be some pretty important reason to make me leave early almost no matter what the score. I find it amazing when people leave early and there is only one goal in it either way.
I must give credit to the Covered End Choir for "Colchester who gives a **** we're Charlton Athletic and we're going up" followed by "We love you Charlton we do" I was despairing of our fans at that point and those chants restored (some) of my faith in our crowd.
Agreed! The covered end takes some stick on here sometimes but last night they backed the team to the end.

Well the person I heard was shouting "get him off" which is pretty negative, and strange considering he won us our two most important games of the season.
Why do some people constantly question the way other people support the team. Just ignore them and enjoy yourself?
A flaky, negative crowd adversely affects the team. Our managers say as much and opposition managers play on it and are on record as saying if you come to Charlton and frustrate them the "fans" will turn on their own players.
Why do some people constantly question the way other people support the team. Just ignore them and enjoy yourself?
it's not support though is it?
i'd happily ignore them but there are one or two who sit near me who are constantly moaning at everything and it grinds my gears. will be moving seats next season.

wasn’t me then. i was chatting about it after the match.
i do hate the moronic shouts during the match aimed at players. i often sit where i used to sit as a season ticket holder as i know people in that area. unfortunately there is one guy a few rows above who seems his wealth of knowledge is needed in a time of crises as he shouts out "we need a goal charlton!". other classics are "change the system powell!" and "wagstaff is our only hope". the latter has only been used once but it made me laugh out loud.
sometimes in the past i have shouted out negative things about players due to frustration and heat of the moment stuff. this year has been different. apart from the odd cry’s of how did he miss that?! and where’s the midfield gone?! I’ve mainly been praising them for their effort. especially that wonder kid at right back.
On the other hand, there is a group some way behind me (in the north upper) who for the past couple of games have spent almost the entire game singing songs about how rubbish our support are. It doesn't exactly help to lift the crowd!
Makes me realise what it must be like to be one of the players!

See where your coming from tho .................but ...Charlton athletic were top of the LEAGUE

Playing Liverpool the Funniest shout I ever heard was made to Luke Young when he had the ball at his feet ...
" Hoof it Hoof it --You know you want to !!!!!
What did Youngie do ...He hoofed it straight to the Liverpool Keeper one end to other ......
Love those funny and light hearted one liners ---we do have some tremendous wit in the crowd lets hope we never lose it

Grumpy, they're probably the same people who leave 10-15 mins early when we are winning as well.
Well the person I heard was shouting "get him off" which is pretty negative, and strange considering he won us our two most important games of the season.
I suggest that might be one reason.
