Drinking in The Royal Oak...

...the one in Borough, that is :o)

Meeting some Col U muppets there tonight before the game (long story, Col U fan at work, blah blah blah)

Anyone been in there before, and know what it's like (e.g. any real beer available, any food cos I won't be eating first, is it run by Spanners etc etc)

  • Not been in that one Leroy. But The Roebuck on Great Dover Street is nice. They have dark Budvar on tap, which is very tasty. Its opposite the LSE dorms so the clientele are safe and well behaved.

Do NOT go into the Dover Castle. Ever.

  • Its a harveys pub. has some decent english grub, pies, roasts, hot pots and all that.

nice old victorian boozer. quite small inside though and can become quite packed. not sure about the spanner element. right mixture of people in there.
  • Not been in for a couple of years, but a decent old-school boozer, and had plenty of ale.
  • Good shout on the Roebuck - dead as Dillinger in there, but the dark bud on tap was cracking. Am in the Oak now - mild's nice. Good little boozers.
  • Cheers Leroy. Roebuck is my local. Love it in there.
  • Have the pie.
  • No chance - had a f***-off big pizza earlier and am stuffed. Smashing the arse out of the mild though - 's lovely
  • Used to have lunch in the Royal Oak every work day for about 20years, until being made redundant in 2002. the owners/managers were more Brighton :-) in those days. Still go back for reunions a couple of times a year.
