2nd march 1984

edited March 2012 in General Charlton
Charlton in the High Court and described as hopelessly insolvent. The Valley was locked up. The game the next day was posponed. It seemed unlikly that Charlton would survive. Dramatically at 5pm news came that the hearing was adjourned until monday.

A sobering reminder!

Younger readers won't understand how difficult it was to find out what was going on. No internet, no sky sports with up to the second news, no mobile phones. Just a premium rate football line which may or may not consider charlton worthy of a mention and unlikly to be up to date. Frantic regular phone calls for a few weeks fingers crossed and praying. Glad also that my employer at the time didn't have itemised bills with phone extensions.

Strangely though my feelings for charlton undoubtably grew during this period.
