Season Ticket credit card surchrage

edited March 2012 in General Charlton
Bought my season ticket today and had to pay a £5 surcharge for using a credit card. Ok it says so on the form. However I also had to buy other tickets for various matches this season and paid for them with the same card but no surcharge.
Does anyone know why this is ?

  • I suspect it is because the club have to pay the credit card company a fee if used. They are trying to either recoup the cost or encourage people to pay by other means - like a debit card. Proably dont do it for matches as a % it would be 25 pence so not worth it. For telephone bookings it is recovered in the booking fee presumably.
    Seems fair enough to me

Could it be that RyanAIR is the new 'secret' owner ?
  • That means they will take out the seats and make us pay to have a pee.

The bank makes us pay a higher credit card fee for season ticket transactions than for match tickets, because they are liable to refund any unfulfilled transaction over £100 if we go bust and fail to provide the goods.

This is the flipside of the protection you get by using your credit card to purchase. We don't recover the full cost to us with this charge or anything if you apply online, which marginally reduces our processing costs.
