I personally don't think he's done too much wrong , it's just that he's not good enough and if and when we go up, we will have to let him go , because if he cant go past a league one defender or put a cross in , he certainly isn't going to do it in the Championship. I'm also doubtful about Green in a higher league. I can't criticise Wagstaff's commitment though.
Wagstaff is shit dont care what any one says he has been poor whenever I watch him play, just throws his arms up in the air like a little girl everytime he doesnt get the ball
A post like that just shows where it comes from.
Thanks for taking the time to add such a valuable contribution to the board. I liked hearing about the exact reasons why you think his play is poor "Wagstaff is shit dont care" and how you balanced it up with some of his strengths as well as weaknesses "poor whenever I watch him play".
It definitely makes me start to think your side of the argument may have a point, and is not baced on some kind of toddler lunacy.
Edit - Also liked the other post where you said his 10 goals from midfield last season was due to the rest of the side being poor. That was a classic bruv.
Dont know bruv but it doesnt seem like I am the only one who thinks he is poor player by the look on this thread, Like the way everyone slags you off for having some sort of opnion they dont like.
He cant cross Cant create any chances when he plays Goes down like Ronaldo use to Moans at everything (reminds me of my ex missus)
Just few reasons bruv
That's more like it bruvva. Personally I think he can be pretty disappointing but no more so than Green. Waggy reminds me of a winger in the Ambrose mould. Doesn't go past players or seem to create much, but defenders worry about him and because of his technique and finishing ability, if you give him the ball around the area then he's likely to give you something. 10 goals from the wing on any league is an impressive return. We also seemed to be cruising this league at a more leisurely pace when he was in the side.
People won't react to you like that if you state proper reasons why you think something. That's what a discussion board's all about innit.

I don't get what's so difficult about crossing. Never got that "Beckham" hype for being a good crosser. Surely if you are a fit young pro footballer with other attributes like Waggy you can practice until perfect? Should be well capable of playing at a higher level I say.

I think alot of players will go if we go up>
Make that WHEN we go up s'il vous plait .. you're right, but a lot will depend of course on what money is available. Norwich is my preferred benchmark for a successful promoted team. The 1st division side of 3 seasons ago was a skilled and well drilled one. Within a month of promotion to the C'hamp, Lambert had totally remodelled that side. He did the same at the end of last season. Norwich is (very quietly) a wealthy and well run club, Lambert is a ruthless manager. My point is that I hope Powell is not at all sentimental when it comes to the playing personnel for next season in the Championship

Sorry When we go up, hopefully Powell can do the same and take out the weak players and replace them with good championship players capable of keeping us in the championship
i prefer green to waggy cos i see a bit of natural ability and as a purist i'm leaning that way cos for all waggys hard graft i think his limited natural ability will leave him lower than where i expect my charlton to be , that's not to say green can make it there either just i think he has a better chance
green hasn't performed as well as expected but him and solly let in less goals per game than solly and waggy for the we need waggy to help solly brigade
these dark sad seasons may be coming to an end (very)soon but unlike most i'm not flicked up by any of the players that have been here through some of those sorrowful times and as we rise from the ashes the wheat shall be separated from the chaff
On Tuesday Taylor had a go at Waggy after he stopped chasing the ball as he was looking for a free kick.
Both him and Green have the problem of not being able to beat their man very often with the ball. But I'd give green the nod ahead of him as he can put in some great crosses. Waggy relies alot on his pace but he doesn't seem as quick as he did a few years back imo
Green and Waggy both have different strengths and weaknesses but i think right now, the team is lacking pace going forward. Wagstaff has that and also has much better movement off the ball than Green who only ever wants to receive it to feet. With JJ doing the same on the other flank, our play has become very easy to read and predictable. Wagstaff may occassionally look like a headless chicken but i think we need him back in the side right now.
I know that this is a Green v Wagstaff thread, but at the moment it seems to me that Bradley Pritchard is the player keeping Wagstaff out of the team. He was after all picked ahead of Wagstaff to play on the right.

Seems I am not the only one with the view he is a poor player, who just moans like a little girl who doesnt get her own way. Hope he is the first player we sack off cause he is no kop in my eyes
I am definately in the Green camp, but I think the Green/Waggy debate has been done to death on here. Posters have jumped on you because you called Waggy shit, he is not that, but a very frustrating player in my book because he never beats his full back and can't cross a ball for toffee! If he ever learns to do those two things, he possibly could end up a decent player and I also think that as he is one of our own that has come through the youth ranks, some people seem to think that entitles him to a bit more slack than anyone else. You can't fault his effort or defensive duties, but I would always pick Green ahead of him.

I think you hit the nail on the head. He clearly is not a traditional winger, but I am confident that there is a player in there somewhere. He has been tried as a striker, and maybe that'll be where he'll end up.

I really didn't get this at all!
I may be wrong as I did not see the game, but wasn't Pritchard playing right midfield?

Yes he was. I meant that I didn't 'get' why he would have chosen Pritchard over Wagstaff.
