  • Then as Friend or Defoe and PeakieRocket say The Fox is a great pub. And I should know as I worked there for 2 years!
You can check out the upcoming events on facebook if you have it. This saturday night is the ska & northern soul night: http://www.facebook.com/events/235142086575859/
Also recommend tuesday nights. Every week has a different DJ playing and there are really good offers on a lot of drinks. I will be DJing tuesday the 6th by the way!
We may have met! The Ska & Northern Soul night (Night bus to Catford) is the last Saturday of every month, it's always good and was brilliant on New Years Eve! Carl puts on a good night.

The Mitre in Greenwich usually has live music as well. Give O'Neils in Bromley a miss!
Carl is a good mate of mine. I'm bringing him to the match on saturday!
We probably have. I quit working there mid 2009 but I still visited regularly. Not so much this past year though. If we both end up going night bus after the match introduce yourself to Carl and I'll say hello.

I didn't go the nightbus but was at the Carnival last Saturday looking worse for wear and dancing with a load of strangers!

I'd rather not say, just in case they aint too good.
I haven't seen them play yet but they've done quite few gigs so, I guess they must have something.
Trouble with musicians is; what is playing in their heads aint whats coming out the PA. I'm thinking Lister, Red Dwarf. I've had years of guitar and bass riffs coming from his bedroom, its good he now inflicting it on the South East England.
Anyway I think their on 2 weeks tomorrow, me and the wife might pop along.

  • The Fox and The Standard pubs in Belvedere village appear to have live music weekly.

Sorry to sound snobbish, but the clientele in the Fox leaves a lot to be desired
  • Huey from Fun Lovin Criminals on at Pelton Arms tonight in aid of Help 4 Heroes.

Ton Hingley former frontman of Inspiral Carpets is on afterwards.

Pelton does get some good gigs.
  • Pretty amazing that really, considering the Pelton just asked him last night on Twitter. What a coup. It will be mobbed down there tonight.

  • Live music is making a big comeback, which is great news. I went to Petts Woodstock yesterday and it was heaving. 2 stages and 16 bands. I knew members of one of the bands and they had another gig (in a pub) in the evening. I got in my car and drove to The Royal in Mottingham to see another friend's band, then drove down to the Vigo Inn to catch the 2nd set of the Paul Cook Blues Band, with special guest guitarist our very own Greenie.
  • I can endorse this recommendation of the Beaverwood Club in Chislehurst. Saw Curved Air there a few months ago (fairly big in the 70s), and am going to see Californian band It's A Beautiful Day this Thursday. They were part of the West Coast scene with Jefferson Airplane, the Grateful Dead, etc. in the 60s. The venue has got good acoustics, the punters are enthusiastic, staff are friendly, bar prices fair - a very good night out.

  • The RNLI beach concert was pretty good yesterday, shame I couldn't make it on Saturday.
  • Thanks to Viewfinder, I went to Beaverwood Club last night and saw the band It's a Beautiful day and really enjoyed the evening.

Glad you enjoyed it, Mosscat - our party of four did too. The crowd may have been a bit sparse but they were enthusiastic, the staff were friendly right from the pay-desk to the bar (sensible prices), acoustics were good, It's A Beautiful Day were terrific. They played vast arenas back in the 60s and 70s! I bought a poster partly to get them all to sign it so I could have a chat with them: a lovely bunch.
