Why are Man City playing so early?

5pm kick off at home ???

  • Because they are top of the league and they can?
  • It's on ESPN , could that have something to do with it?
Seems like a silly time for a football match on a Wednesday!
  • Copied from BBC sports live football feed:

"By the way, the reason City are playing Porto so early today is twofold: Firstly, Greater Manchester Police would not let this game take place on the same night as Manchester United's home game with Ajax. And, secondly, Uefa would not let it take place at the same time as this evening's Champions League games. I would hope City are getting some compensation over the reduced attendance tonight... although by saying that I know I am inviting comments from people keen to point out they often have a few empty seats anyway!"

I can understand them playing tonight, with United due to play at home to Ajax tomorrow night.

Ah! CAFC Luke got in there first.

  • just under 40k there which for an odd time was more than i'd have expected
  • How many away fans?
(And what percentage of their average home gate did they take away?)
