  • I'm going to a wedding at the end of September there too! Looking forward to it.

    ... what's not to like!

Got there relatively late one evening and found we were the last ones in there and it was starting to get dark. Then it got scary. No lighting, no way out signage, no stewards, plenty of dodgy paths and deep cravasses to slip into. The pub selling the tickets had put zero effort into basic safety. Complaints were made. Would be interested to know if anything has changed.
Why did you go sightseeing/rock climbing when it was getting dark?!
  • Came across the place by accident at the time. Dusk crept up on us. Wasn't through choice
  • Fair enough. Wasn't a dig, just wondered!
  • I got married there a few years ago now, seemed to be really well organised, was owned by italians, think the bosses name was luigi or something similar, is it still the same owners?
  • Yes - Guiseppe. Seemed very switched on when we met him on Saturday, explained everything clearly and simply.

That's the one! Would certainly recommend it as a venue to you, they were very flexibile with what we did and didn't want + was quite good value, we had the room downstairs so you get easy use of the patio etc as well
  • Yeah, that's the one we're after! Good to hear it was good from someone who's had their wedding there.

We really like it to be honest - reasonable and a stunning place. Our only reservation is that it's about an hour and a quarter away for quite a few evening guests, and we're not sure if it's too far!

    Oh please!

Yes, it's changed, it's now lit up like a Christmas tree 24 hours a day and everyone gets their own experienced guide with a torch, survival equipment and a weeks worth of rations.

Amazing how they still keep the price down really. But good to know they take safety seriously.

Now, if only the local council would take the same attitude for the rest of the forest around there.

  • My sister got married there last year, no complaints at all about the venue, thoroughly enjoyable day/night/into the next morning!
  • Cool that's good, glad to hear it! Food decent, you remember what you had?

Really good day thanks mate. Didn't eat much due to nerves but what I did manage to eat was very nice and no complaints and the main thing was that the food was hot.

No complaints about anything really. The whole day went well and the toast master was good too. I think he is high rocks own toast master.

The speech went down well too. Was on the double vodka and lemonades from half 10 in the morning but they didn't help nerves. As soon as I had a beer I was alright and made it to the end of the speech :D

When in june are you getting married.

Saturday 28th - which could be an England game, unfortunately!!

Good news on the toastmaster too, we weren't sure whether to bother or.not, so I'm glad we did book him!
  • Best value day out in Kent is Leeds Castle. You pay once and can access it all year. Great for picknicks - Two impressive adventure playgrounds (one opened last week), a maze & boat across the lake - wonderful grounds, restaurant and cafés and the castle is always worth a trip. Better for kids 5-11 IMO.

Haven't been this year but either of the John Aspinal zoo's are great and also offer a ticket which lasts a year. Port Lympne has had a fair bit of investment recently which sounds great.

  • That's my stag weekend! More worried about that than the wedding to be honest!

Where are you getting married? Good luck to you too.
