What is wrong with them?

edited February 2012 in General Charlton
Bloody Met Police hoisting a parked care onto the removal truck outside the N stand at 7.30. With so many people, including lots of children, around in poor lighting that was so dangerous. If they had half a brain between them, and had any consideration for public safety, they would have left it for 15 or 20 minutes until everybody was in the ground.

Comments

  • What if there were a bomb in the car and it blew up in amongst thousands of people?

If its illegally parked - shift it
  • If there was a bomb inside it, They would have detonated it by attemoting to load it ont the truck!

Police intelligence - Biggest oxymoron ever.
  • And quite possibly done with a degree of 'showmanship' to let as many folk as possible see what happens if you park there when a game is on.
  • And if they left it there then needed to get emergency vehicles down or if say the stand needed to be evacuated? You be the first to criticise them probably.

Jeez, is this all we've got to moan about...

Don't think anyone is saying it shouldn't have been moved Bournemouth....only that the timing of when they did it was rather curious............at the very moment when the streets would have been at their busiest with fans arriving.
It should have been done a lot earlier of course and that is what is being pointed out I think, though Spooney didn't actually say that I'm sure that's what he was driving at.

    Agreed
  • I think people have the ability to walk around a parked car, even if illegaly parked.

Well I don't suppose those with an anti-police agenda will change their minds but maybe they tried to get it shifted earlier but that was when the truck turned up? Maybe they gave the bloke 15 minutes to shift it and he didn't? Maybe they had complaints from the clubs safety officer about getting it shifted pronto?

Who knows why it got lifted when it did, certainly not those having a go on here though. Just seems to me that some members of society and reflected on here just can't wait to have a go at anyone in authority but the police in particular.

  • The fact that the streets are so busy is exactly the reason they don't allow parking there.
Damned if you do = damned if you don't

Took me a while to see what you'd done there VG! And no I'm not OB but I have worked with them on various work things for many, many years and have serving or ex-police in my circle of friends.

Of course there have been one or two numpties or idiots that I have come across in that time but for the most part they are just ordinary people doing a very difficult job in increasingly difficult circumstances, with little or no support from their superiors, the courts or the public.

I'm also not saying I don't get wound up by the way I'm often treated as an away supporter for instance as I'd be lying, but unfortunately that's a consequence of the poor behaviour of fans over the years.

What makes me laugh is that those first in line to have a pop at them wouldn't last five minutes as a copper.

    Second this, well said.
  • Something horrible happened to me last night; I arrived at the Valley a little later than I would have liked but it was okay as some lovely person put some plastic yellow things outside the ground so there was plenty of room to park, managed to park right near the turnstiles of the family stand, where I bought tickets, result!... Well I thought it was, I was sitting there in my seat bored because boring Charlton were only winning AGAIN and thought I would leave early to avoid the crowd. Imagine my surprise when I walked out to find my car had been stolen!!! And to top it all off the police just laughed at me, if anyone saw anything suspicious please let me know you'll find me still waiting at the bus stop on Woolwich road for a bus that goes all the way to Sittingbourne :-((...
