  • Having not played for 2 weeks sounds like we ticked all the boxes.. Getting back to match fit, dispatching another top 6 side and furthering the gap to third... Only Huddersfield and stevenage to play out the top 6 now ... Still long way to go ... But looking good ... Stay on target Chris ... Stay calm ...
  • Well it must be hard for that "clem" the lonely sod
    Keep 'em coming.
  • First half we dominated. Second half we looked awful to be fair.

Can't moan considering its 19 points from 21..... but I will try...1) I thought Powell could have freshend things up and brought on Pritchard earlier. I could see the MK goal coming, if I could why couldn't he? 2) Why does BWP get so much praise? If he ain't scoring then I can't see what he adds to the team?? We sacrificed Haynes out wide so BWP could stay on. Also I don't know why the fans sing for him and not the grafting, batlling legend that is Kermit.3) Who is the drummer in covered end?? When we scored there was no chants or anything.4) I honestly think the if I gave the majority of fans around me a VIP ticket at the Nou Camp they would still stand there and shout "Play it forward!!!".

Apart from having a good old moan a win is a win and we will forget all about it come the end of the season if the 'P' word happens.

  • Thought BWP looked sharp, strange how people see it.

Second half we just took our foot off their throats and never got going again. Wins a win, and 24 points to go
  • Second half was so bad it was embarrassing. Whole midfield went missing with special critisism for Green who was poor throughout although if that shot had gone in it would have been goal of the season. Kermit and Brad look out of sorts and even the two CB's looked wobbly. We have the best full backs in the league and both are championship quality. On that second half alone I hope the management start a shopping list for next season. Having said all that we roll on and up.

Admitedly watched the whole game through a massive booze haze, but to me, it looked like we were playing to instructions in the second half. Kill the game, save your legs etc etc.

MK were marginally the better side before the pens.

Was convinced the keeper carried the ball over the line on 20 mins or so.
  • Seemed to "put the cue on the rack" in the second half, and was not keen with the overplaying in our last third of the pitch. Decent first half, and a big thanks to the Slow scotsman, for giving us the first goal that we needed to settle.

Powell has been on 5live and mentioned that Jacko was carrying an injury (unsure what) and that they wanted to take him off at half time.

    Onwards and upwards.
  • Getting match fit ... 2-0 up ... Dont over exert ... Job done ...
  • Poor performance from Charlton, but 3 points! BWP was dreadful, and i mean dreadful! Not the player he was, he looked like he couldnt be bothered, and didnt want to be there!!
Must have watched a different game. He didn't stop working and was unlucky not to score
  • Any one with a side on view know if it was a goal when the MK GK slipped back into his own net?

Couldn't tell from where I was, don't think it did though

  • BWP worked hard but it just ain't happening for him. As for the "goal" I can categorically and 100% confirm it came nowhere near crossing the line.
  • I also think the balance on the bench is wrong. Dont see the need for two strikers. Leave Clarke out for Wagstaff.

Fair enough. Keeper must havelong arms then. He was altleast a foot behind the line when he caught the ball.

  • Save my wider points for another post, but for me it was a repeat of something we've seen multiple times over recent weeks. Winning yet another game whilst in third gear. Grateful for MK Dons giving us the leg up when it was needed.

  • 1st : good win
2nd : what a shit performance , we were very lucky , mk deserved something , never seen so many misplaced passes no stand out performances although hamer made some very good saves
Time to give green a break and bring waggy back we won but are looking dodgy time to up tempo
But I will take dodgy wins
  • Well after a first half where they had the better chances we were bemusedly 2-0 up and after a second half which they won 1-0 with ten men you have to say that mk dons were very impressive this evening and there fans had a lot to be proud of. That has to be the best passing team to have played at the valley for a long time and had they had 11 men who knows what the score would have been. A few points to learn from; kicking the ball backwards into defence require centre backs and goalie who can pass the ball ( we as yet do not have that) so being told to hang onto the ball is wrong if this is what is meant. We created problems for ourselves by passing it back when we should have been pummelling there goal. And we need to have an effective striker since bwp stopped scoring and this dirth of goals from strikers is causing too much pressure on the team. BWp is quality and I want him to stay but his lack of something in front of goal is causing us problems which we have solved by the midfielders stepping up to the mark . Today we were lucky in a way; of course you earn your luck and we did deserve to win but we should change our way of being 2-0 up against 10 men because we were poor in tactic and strategy and I think they definitely deserve promotion along with us and united.
  • Well done Ben Hamer two match winning saves tonight.

Clem I sit in north west upper and my seat looks directly down the goal line. Yes the GK stepped over his goaline but none of the ball did let alone all of it.

Believe it or not I'm not arguing with you!

From the north upper, his feet were way behind the line. Assumed the ball was as well.

  • Thought Green was a lot better tonight.

    Wiggins was quiet.

    Kerm was reliable as usual.

Hamer was good, although he scares me when the ball comes to his feet.

Stephens and Hollands were both quality.

Morro a bit rocky but still solid.
  • I think we should have had 2 more penalties before the first one that was awarded, plus their #5 should already have been sent off before he actually was and it looked very much like their goalie took the ball back over the line, so frankly we could have won it 5-1. Not a good day at the office in terms of the performance but 3 points is all that counts. Nobody had a particularly good match and we should never, EVER, attempt to sit back and defend a lead like we did in the 2nd half, especially not against 10-men.

not impressed but we won and that's the be all.

hamer did well tonight, bwp worked hard, rest were so so.

can see why MK had only lost 5 in the league prior to tonight.

Sorry Clem - I was in line - nowhere near!
  • Damn right awful performance in the second half but hey, we won! I have to say though that I've never felt angry after a victory like I did tonight. Maybe my expectations are just getting too high...

I would like to see that last save from Hamer again where he got a hand on the shot that took it over the bar. A world class save if you ask me. 3 world class saves that kept us in front and apart from one misplaced kick that went out for a throw in his distribution was excellent. Scrappy second half where we tried to play at our own pace and invited pressure which was almost our downfall. BWP was excellent tonight, could have had a couple of goals but was unlucky tonight and hardly gave the ball away. 2 cracking penalties from JJ too. Man of the match for me was Hamer. Loved the way he was dishing out bollockings to everyone!
  • Seems as if we thought we'd done enough but MK are a good side. I think there are 3 or 4 players in that side that Powell could add to our squad next season. Bowditch, Lewington, Tavenier, Abou-doumbe (sp) and others.

First half I thought was fairly even and then they gave us a penalty. Didn't see the head butt but Kermo looked worried as if he was expecting a card himself. He is very clever at winding up players and that is another red card his "won" us in recent weeks.

2nd half they were the better side and could have taken a point. We looked disjointed a.nd under pressure whenever we had the ball rather than exploiting the room of 11 v 10.

Still a win is a win and Wednesday and huddersfield lost so good evening.

Even met Bedsaddick and has a birthday drink with Ken from Bexley

I had a good view. Definitely not over the line.
  • 2nd half, first 15-20 in particular I think maybe tactically CP made an error. The players were definitely saving strength, effort etc but MK got confidence from that and piled on more and more pressure as the game went on, and as others have mentioned Solly (who Smith gave a horrid time) and Morrison seemed unusually rattled. I think meeting fire with fire and making use of the extra man would have prevented this situation, a third goal would have finished MK completely,

That said no manager is faultless and CP's biggest strength is learning from mistakes, assuming he even sees it as one, he's the expert after all.
