This is the twenty-first century and I find it depressing that we still characterise people by the colour of their skin. I would suggest that Chris Powell has more in common with, say, most white football managers than, say Patrice Evra or Thierry Henry. We really need to move on and see people for what they are, i.e. beyond just the colour of their skin.
I can never understand the implications of these 'not enough black managers' articles. Do people think that lots of chairmen are racist? Because no one ever seems to come up with a reason for it. Is there a queue of unemployed black managers out there? I can only think of Paul Ince.....
I'd like to think that whether you're black, white, yellow or red, as long as you're good enough and get some luck along the way, you'll get an opportunity.
Good point pbs, are there actually any black refs in the top 4 divisions?
There might even be more female officials. Not that I think female officials are a bad thing - every time i've seen them they have done a better job than most of their male colleagues.

Thirty years ago, there weren't very many black professionals playing the game.
With the number of black professionals today, no doubt they'll be a fairer proportion managing in 10 or 20 years time.

Spot on aswell!
