In the absence of anything better to do today I thumbed through a few back copies of Voice of The Valley. Below are a few titbits from Henry's old column.
November 1995 - On Ugliness & The Appointment Of Les Reed:
October 1994 - On Pitcher's Departure:
April 1996 - With A Song For The Proposed Millennium Move:
December 1995 - On Reproducing Without Permission:
Only because today has left me with a free afternoon to muse on the seventeeen year-old outpourings of our resident sporter of knitwear for the chronologically advanced, will I pedantically point out that "irrelevant" was spelt "wrongLY" not "wrong". Standards, Henry! Tsk!
Bob Sims was my great Uncle and would still love to know more about him.
Stig, would be good to see some more (maybe not just that Henry Irving rubbish) such as Northern Notebook, Airman Brown (whatever became of him?) and some of Ackworth's letters. Plenty of current lifers were regular letter writers in VOTV
Idle Hans, I will argue colloquial usage, blame Rick Everitt as the editor and argue that the statute of limitations has run out : - )
Oh, and if anyone wants a collection of Charlton Fanzines Badger has kindly donated a load to the CL auctions. You will have to collect them from Plumstead though.
Badger tells me he has:
Fanzines VFR have #1and a few others.. Remember Remeber, quiet a few and they come with matchday programme and ticket stub and match report. VOTV some come with matchday programme and ticket stub and matchday report, some earlies some run consecutively. Gbh, #2 onwards up to 18/19 and some doubles Robins Report
First person to offer £20 and who is able to collect can take the lot.
If you could do that at some point that would be mint Stig. Still have my copies of VOTV but due to me having very little computer knowledge the chances of me doing it are slim to none.

Will do. Let me know if you have any favourite articles that you'd like to ensure are included.

Top man! I'll have a peruse and decide which of my literary gems need resurrecting.

I was so much older then, I'm younger than that now.
I could do that if you want, but it might have to wait a while as Mrs Stig has just put my fanzines back in the loft.
