That's right sack your manager the day after the transfer window "slams" shut Leeds. That way the new guy can't spend any money. Leeds fans have been calling for this for a while I think. Not to say Bates is popular up there either though.
Leeds United have today dispensed with the services of Simon Grayson and his coaching staff. Chief Executive Shaun Harvey said: "We have 18 games to go this season and are still within touching distance of the Play-Offs, but felt with the transfer window now closed we needed to make the change at this time in the belief that a new managerial team will be able to get more out of the existing squad of players and make the difference." Simon and his staff have given the club over three good years service and we would like to place on record our thanks and wish them all the best for the future. Current youth team manager Neil Redfearn has been asked to take temporary charge of the first team until a new manager is available.
Similar posistion Boro were in a few years ago when Southgate was sacked and replaced by Strachan. They were only a few points off 3rd place or something. Strachan did his usual job, be funny if Leeds went for him, old boy and all that.
I thought Leeds fans were anti Bates rather than anti Grayson. The reason they haven't bought much in is due to Bates building a hotel at the back of their East Stand!
A Leeds mate sent me their squad list and what they cost, only 3 of them cost any money and the most expensive being Danny Pugh at 500k. He also sent this:
"When we came out of administration after Bates had paid 1p for every £1 owed, he said that if we were in the prem in 5 years he would increase it to 30p in a pound, and if we were in the prem in 10 years it would be 8p in a pound. He said this in July 3rd 2007. So in the summer that will have ended."
Anyone want to bet Bates will be investing in some players this summer?

Warnock.... good shout.
Imagine if Simon Grayson had been in the frame to replace Parky. We'd have been bloody delighted

and another looking over shoulder will be cotterill -- the merry go round is starting
I wonder how we'd react if we sacked our manager when IN the playoffs?
