just think he deserves a chance because he is a good player and could do a good job for us! we might need him at some point if we get injuries and suspensions.
There are 6 central midfielders in front of him on merit & there are only 2 places.
Jackson, Hollands, Pritchard, Stephens, Russell & Hughes. (Also of course Green & Wagstaff on the flanks.) They have all played well. Alonso was fit for one game & was truly shocking. He couldn't even keep the ball on the pitch. I know it was one game & you can't judge a player on one game, but nevertheless, it was the worst performance by a Charlton player this season.
You may prefer him to one of the other 5, but Powell obviously doesn't. I trust Powell's judgement as he sees him every day.
Who would you drop then to play him ?
Presumably, you believe he is better than Jackson, Hollands & Stephens.
I've seen all games this season bar 4 & I think Powell is correct, no question.
he's been fit for several weeks now and didn't feature against margate. you can't judge a player on one game!
admittedly, maybe he could have played against Margate, and also we shouldn't judge him just v Brentford. But thats all we have to go on, no fault of Powell's. And how does he deserve a chance? Instead of who? Let's give him a chance and drop Hollands shall we? We're playing well, and 3 or 4 centre midfielders have all done brilliantly, so how does Alonso deserve a chance? Not at all
we can't expect to keep the same starting 11 all season other wise we are just asking to stay in this division. Powell should change things a bit like give bwp a rest because he hasn't scored for ages and give the likes of cort, hayes, haynes, wagstaff, bover and evina a chance.

That's a different matter.
I'm off out now. However, let me know who you want dropped out of Jackson, Hollands & either Stephens or Pritchard & then explain why he also should come in before Pritchard, Russell & Hughes who have all performed well.
so you want to see us go the whole season with the same starting 11 that would be suicidal and your practically asking to stay in this division. I don't care who gets dropped from the squad because you can't expect to see the same xi every week and still get promoted. players will get tired and be more prone to injuries and suspensions.

no and thats what has happened. Kermy came in and replaced Hayes. Green replaced Waggy, the centre mids have changed regularly and Ephraim covered Jackson. But your argument that Alonso deserves a chance is a ridiculus one. I am happy to let Powell choose the squad. If we have 3 games in a week, then yes i'm sure someone will be tired and we can then make a chance. But if we win a game on a saturday, we done then have to change our team for the next saturday, players arent tired. We just won, no need to make changes. If we get a suspension, then we cover that by bringing a player in, like we did with Sullivan and Waggy. We dont need to change our team every week, that goes you nowhere. If you dont believe me, check out our system when we got relegated from the champ, didnt work m8
I don't mean that we should change the squad or starting 11 every game but we should make one or two changes to freshen things up every so often. It might do us some good like the last two games we have played we have been lucky.

The last two games where we beat both the Sheffield clubs? We beat possibly the two toughest teams in the league and you want to change the line-up? AND you claim we were lucky? WUM.
as far as anyone one here is concered, alonso must of been crap. not because of that game he played. you can never judge him or anyone on just one perfomance if that was so wiggins after his first game wouldent of got a second chance. He is obviously poor in training. going on to what valleystorm was saying i think you do have to change a few things every now and again. at the moment i would be considering droping bwp. he might score hat trick on saturday, we all know he is capable of it. i think at the moment apart from bwp, and maybe green, get haynes in there, no one should be changed....for now. but the guys on the bench could be moved around a bit.
if we still keep winning and getting results then there is no need to make several changes apart from the subs bench and make one or two changes but if we do lose or draw several games then that is the time to change things.
Will be interesting to see what level he goes on loan to, although his injury record and performance against Brentford indicate he will be another Pouso/Gibbs, certainly don't think we should completely write him off. Football can be very strange and if he was to have a productive loan spell, you never the role he could play for us.

Yeah I totally agree, we don't look like going up at all at the moment.

I'd be interested to see later on :-)
