Strange that Paddy and Hudson are part of decent defences in CCC but for the life of me I can't see what we are doing better this year than times past. Taylor MOM for me but lack of pace means I can't see him doing it next year. Ditto Green and Jacko.
Give players a chance, I wouldn't write off most of our squads capability to compete in the championship. Doubt Euell will stay on but that's only one of few players to be sure about.
Hamer has had a couple good games but a lot of games where he is flappy and shakey. I think Powell will buy another keeper in the summer to be honest with Hamer as back up. We haven't conceded a lot of goals but a lot of the reason for that is because of our back 4 and other teams rarely threatening to much.
i think they are a great partnership ,must give credit to the management re knowing how they would/might blend .
there are lots of matter to address if we did go up ..agree that taylor wd be left short for pace ,hamer does flap (but could improve) ,i think jackson and green more than make up for in ability than what they lack in pace(and are complimented by the fulbacks .BWP would also be a concern as he offers so little outside the box (a very frustratig player to manage and play with) thought Yann was immense on sat
Powell mentioned in his post match interview that the whole of the back four are '...real defenders who know how to defend and I tell them to pride themselves on clean sheets'.
That is what stands out for me throughout the whole team and whatever 11 he sends out. There is a mental toughness and inner belief that I have not seen for many years at The Valley. It doesn't matter what level you play at, you cannot put a price on that level of confidence.
For me it's Taylor who's currently the better of the two. Neither of them ever seems to have a mare but Taylor just quietly gets on with his job, is slightly better at dealing with the more physical players you get in this league and always seem to be in the right place.
Longer term I think Morro will come into his own but very, very happy with the pair of them at the moment.
I said something similar recently. Morrison, in my opinion, is our best cb since the premiership days. I also think Taylor is the unsung hero of the team this season & is playing a very important role next to him
It now seems laughable that Wednesday and Exeter fans were ridiculing us for signing their 4th best centre backs.
Of course they're the best partnership we've had since the Premiership. But then again they're probably the *only* proper partnership we have had at centre half since then.
I think Morro is great but i think the back four really work as a unit with good understanding and they work fo each other covering and encouraging. To be fair i think that can be said about the whole squad that SCP has pulled together
"Their 2 centre backs were like a couple of immovable cavemen" Thanks Epsom, that made me laugh - and so true. I still find it hard to believe that they only came together this season. And flanked by two great full backs makes this the best defence in the league by a long way.
Morrison is excellent but Mark Hudson was probably at least as good. He's an inspirational leader at Cardiff, by all accounts.
The difference is Morro is playing in a very good back four. Hudson played in a badly-managed side of staggering ineptitude. But make no mistake: whether we saw the best of him or not, if Hudson came down to div three now he'd be an absolutely immense player.

agree .. ! but would he be ok without Taylor next to him.
Him and taylor are like simon & garfunkel .
Well they are certainly singing from the same song sheet !
