Sheff Utd fans

edited January 2012 in General Charlton
Thought it was very good of them to give our kids a really big clap all the way around today at half time. They kept it up for the best part of 10 mins and it was really respectful.

  • Yeah, I thought that too. Well done to them; turned up in numbers, sung for their team, applauded our youngsters and stayed to the end. I've got a lot of time for them.
  • At least from next week we can end the love/hate relationship with the Sheffield teams and start focusing on Charlton again
  • yes I pointed that out to my parents, very impressive. Less impressive was their support of Ched Evans.

Northerners so always going to be like judging a three legged horse in the Grand National.

Inbred. Embarrassment as British nationals and dress like Jeremy Kyle guests but still an improvement on Palace and Wednesday.

As Di Canio would say "Northerners...*some sort of facist salute*.,....you ashame us"
  • This Sheffield United fans 'love-in' really has to stop now.....its becoming a bit uncomfortable!
  • i liked them before today now i agree with rodney
  • @MiserableOlGit as a die hard Unitedite, i can't defend that, should get the punishment he deserves

DanDavis. a twitter message from a United fan after Beatties sending off: Uncomfortable ?
  • "He shags who he likes, that boy Ched Evans he shags who he likes"

    Lovely bunch
  • As I walked to the ground there was a group of 15-20 youngish united walking up the woolwich road from the Rose of Denmark all boozed up singing "Charltons a shithole I wanna go home" then they changed it to "Londons a shithole....." But I thought that's where they all came from ....maybe not

Just young divvy chavs, all clubs have em
Numbers wise decent but I couldn't see how there was a few hundred spare seats in their end but I remember brighton midweek @ ours and the brighton number didn't look to have that many gaps and it was just above 2k

Noise wise I think the goal knocked the stuffing out of them
  • One or two 'giving it the bigun' at the exit in Valley Grove after the game to some of us exiting from The West Stand...........I suggested they might like to go to the other end of the ground and gob off if they fancied it..............I guess they didn't.

  • RCT - I don't know what Northerners have done to cheese you off....... Sleep it off.
  • They are ok. We would have given their boys a clap too under the same circumstances. Only a handful of clubs I can think of that would have booed.
  • sheff utd had a lot more fans here than wendies , i know it was mid week and on sky but i thought wendies were massive lol ,
i really hope utd get second place and wendies miss the boat
  • Huddersfield will get 2nd. Think Rhodes will make all the difference

SoundAs - do you wear glasses?

As I came out of that exit there was a norvan munkee shouting the odds about "how do you lot sleep at night ..... ya cheeeting basstads" and some fella fronted him. Was that you?
  • Queueing for the train home we got to the platform gates only for the police to shut the gate on well over 100 mixed fans. Fair enough, crowd control for the busy platform. However, as the gate shut, the chant "BLAAAADES-MEN" went up... oh dear. A pocket of Charlton responded bravely but we were well out numbered. It was bubbling up, the United fans didnt like it and started some verbals with the Charlton lads... it didnt go off but could easily have in an enclosed space with nowhere to go.

In short, the police got it wrong in my opinion.
  • Danny looks a bit scary there...

Top of Floyd Rd I had a chat with a United fan saying that and more. He mouth off that they were catching us, we were this and that etc.
I told him we're in fact a further 3 points and a game in hand over them. He still wouldn't have it.
I put it down to shock and too much beer.

    PS. I was wearing glasses.

  • I thought that they added a positive vibe to the day; when there are few away fans it can be like a training game ; much better to have plenty of away fans to crank up the atmosphere and they weren't Brighton or Norwich but they were impressive by league 1 standards and by the way football is not about 'hating' the opposition , its about beating them fairly.
  • Same old crap when at the station. Complete silence then the train pulls in and they start singing.

Proper muggy but in the most part their fans seemed decent.
  • Yup.....that was me Off_it.
  • Going to be an almighty scramble at the top. Thankfully we have that nice 7 point cushion but if the Wendies win at Scunthorpe on Tuesday there'll be Huddersfield and both Sheffield teams locked on 53 points after 27 games. If I had to choose one I would go for Huddersfield with JR's goals keeping their goaldifference great than that of United. Wednesday are having a blip. 2-2 at home to Hartlepool is not what the doctor ordered after losing to us last week. Sunday 26th Feb is a date for diary - Wendies v Blades....

I was walking to the ground with @Ketman and @Gumbo when a Utd supporter came up to me and started telling me I was 'dead sexy', they must have repeated it 4 or 5 times which slightly worried me.

Two things I would like to say,

    1. I wasn't even wearing my Uggs
    2. Said supporter was a fella.

I'm hoping that sexy has a different meaning up North.
  • Careful Plaaayer, apparently they shag who they like
  • I went to uni up north. When they tell another man that he's dead sexy they're calling him a shirt lifter.
  • I suppose if anyone would that if would be you. Thanks mate.
  • Northern definition of sexy:
  • Is she sitting in a paddling pool of sausage meat?
