I'd say two seasons on par, season we got promoted as champions, there were so many records that we broke on the way ... eg winning at Molyneux and the following season in the Prem
Our first season in the Prem (first time round) was misery for me as I felt we just couldn't compete. Second time round I felt there were occasions when we could do so but the aim was just to survive and, ultimately, we dropped not just once but twice. This year, after so much agony and wondering why I was renewing my ticket, I have hopes that we will win something - promotion as Champions - and in style with a team which plays an exciting brand of football. All credit to the manager and the owners who have backed him. Wonderful times - long may it last.
Coming from nowhere with that magical run of 8 consecutive wins without conceding a goal to get to the playoffs and winning at Wembley in 97/98 ....... it was a tremendous feeling building game by game as promotion became a possibility. And being at Wembley, of course!
This year is great because of the feel good factor returning. And all the whinging moaning doom-mongers have thankfully gone away.
Yes without a doubt. Sold out Valley, beating the likes of Chelsea, Arsenal, Palace, West Ham and Spurs whilst seeing players like Di Canio, Parker et al turning out week in week out was the pinnacle for me. And we even used to get the odd column inch back then too.
There were lots of negatives too with the premiership but I think playing in the top league, being overachieving underdogs and the financial rewards outweigh the positives of this year.
Enjoying this season immensley but only because we are winning and getting closer to escaping this league. More importantly it feels like we have started to turn the tide and completely rebuild the club and are heading in the right direction for the first time in years (including the latter prem years)
I am really enjoying this season as not only are we winning but manager, players and fans seem to all be together and with a bit of luck we will escape this aweful league. The one thing that I don't enjoy is the very poor officiating by the referee and his assistants.
Re: seth's point - I think the prem was better for that reason. Even during the more mediocre season's a win felt like a really big achievement. This season has been great and everyone loves winning games, but at the same time we have expected to win most of them, so the last two weeks, hudds, bramall lane were highlights, but a lot of our games a win was the minimum we'd expect and for me it has just felt more like a case of ticking them off game by game to get us closer to escaping this crap league
going into work and trying to big up us beating bury or mkdons still doesn't cut it. don't get me wrong, it's great winning but despite assurances that all these fans live in london i just don't seem to get to meet them (although i do know a few orient fans). whereas when we were in the prem we got grief and gave it to about half the division on a very regular basis, you wouldn't struggle to get the personal views of the opposition fans and i really miss that.
I have to say that in the Prem, even a dull 0-0 still had a ton of tension about it, but I do enjoy all this winning.....unlike some on here I don't have a ton of workmates supporting all different teams, so beating Chesterfield gets me no more or less kudos than beating Chelsea. However, I also miss the extra buzz of winning as the underdog, which we've not been for a few seasons now.

It has been good though.
