People ask about the previous round. It was not the Kettering game - that was in 1989 and got knocked out by West Ham in round 5. We played Bradford City and drew 1-1 but won the replay, at The Valley Parade, 3-0
Amazing to think that the Derby game was in doubt when you look at this pitch!
I was at the game as well and still to this day can't believe we didn't get anything out of it. BTW we had beaten Bradford after a replay to get to the 4th Round in 1990.
I was there, never thought we would make it driving up there, the worst rain ever seen in my life, good old fashioned banter between the fans in and outside the ground. Drank in the big pub in the corner before the game.
I was at the night game in '94. I hadn't realised that the away end was being redone so presumed there was still a roof. By half time we were utterly drenched and my old man and I had had enough so asked, nay pleaded, to go into the seats. The stewards said no at first but eventually relented. They made us pay full whack for the seat too which I'm still bitter about. I think that game was in the midst of our appalling end of season run after the Old Trafford quarter final.
I was there that day drove up from Basingstoke, we were in what is now the premiership and they were in what is now the championship so beating us was a bit of a giant killing lol. Remember it being packed in all the home area's and a WBA fan asking me to borrow my scarf so he could get in our end, obviously i refused. Remember the puddle and i think Tony Ford scored plus our missed penalty (by steve mackenzie i think) and the rebound being blazed over the bar.
Mike Salmon's debut. The Cup meant everything at the time so the defeat at West Brom was really hard to take. Not a lot went right for us that season. We got relegated and I'm sure we missed a couple of vital penalties in games we lost ("home" to Crystal Palace and the one at WBA).
I went to this, with Lee Southern and Jeremy I think? I remember no roof on the bogs and pee/rain mix pouring down the steps as we queued to use it, a few late chances as well, a really good day out despite the result, Sheff Wednesday, Spurs, Fulham and this make me think we should request an away day 3rd round draw so at least we are guarenteed one decent cup saturday a year!
I was there - remember it really well. Recall being devastated when Bolder wasn't playing. Interesting anecdote. After getting back from the West Midlands myself and a few mates went to our then local - the Prince of Wales - in Upper Belvedere. We were talking about the game and moaning about Walshie missing a penalty only - to our amazement - see Walshie and Mike Salmon at the bar drinking. Had a long chat with them. Walshie seemed pissed and at the end of the night said 'right where are we going now?' which in Upper Belvedere is a strange thing to ask. At one stage it looked like he and Salmon were going to come back to my flat. I remember thinking that - as fans - we were devastated about being knocked out but that they didn't seem especially bothered.
West Brom cup game.... mate of mine was called for over the tannoy as his mrs had just gone into labour, some of you will know him, big Tom who does the door at the Cons on match days.

Colin Walsh lives down the road from the POW, drinks in there a bit apparently.
A group of us drove up, parked in a big gravel car park near the ground. Found a little pub around the back streets, full of West Brom but they were all good lads, the landlord said that we stood out as "Cockneys" like a sore thumb, he said that we best go in the small back bar as the police will come in looking for away fans and kick you out. Don't remember much about the game tbh.
Yep I was there hoping for respite from a terrible season. Very wet and just one of those days. That season was horrible as we were going down as Palace were going to a cup final. All results at the bottom kept going against us and we kept losing games we should have won: Everton (a) Forest (h) Sotton (a) Norwich (h) Chelsea (a) Millwall (a) So who went to Bradford away?
ha ha midweek away FA Cup replay a vintage charlton following up there i was one of the chosen few i know we won 3-0 but i'm thinking a couple of the goals were late but it was a long time ago
I was there too with my bro. Game should never have been played. Proper football match though. We had some good players in those days although I never took to Salmon.

Another one of our good old away games mate, remember the chap standing there in our end looking Northern with the tash, Bod goes up to front him and it turns out it was Gilesy's brother. Also Marky Humphreys filling the car up with petrol as someone flicked a fag end out the window, his face was a look of horror.

yep we were on the coach where the driver kept falling asleep at the wheel on the way home, he also smashed into the side of the Dartford Tunnel

Went to that one. Played really well. Mark Aizlewood and David Campbell played for Bradford. Bolder made a brilliant block from an indirect free-kick inside our area. He stood in front of the wall and as soon as the ball was shifted, sprinted like a maniac to block the shot. Brilliant thinking....John Humphrey was screaming at him to stand behind the wall but Bolder wasn't having it!
Yes my Dad and I were at both wet West Brom games, Can't remember what year it was but Swindon away was horrid, seated end without a roof, it lashed down for 90 minutes !!

I remember a coach bumping into the side of a tunnel many moons ago, late at night, didn't know it was this match or what tunnel ! It would have been stupid o'clock in the morning and there was no back up drivers in them days , so he had an excuse !! .... And we'd all probably stuck a few pennies in Wallys hat to tip him lol
we were not a happy bunch, we gave Steve Dixon pelters he kept walking up and down the coach chatting to people, we told him to get his arse down the front and keep the the driver awake. I dont think he got fcuk all in his collection that night. I remember we gave him dog's abuse when we got off, I thought we were goners mate, the geezer was a prick.

In those days me and the old man (and im sure many others as we had about 1500 there that day) used to make sure we always went to the fa cup games.
FA Cup meant something then.
Has a bar in Thailand at the time of this game but was over for it-the Obill up there were complete arseholes
