  • Many years ago (approx 30 years) I sold the 1946 FA Cup final programme to the bloke in the club shop (programme shop) for a fiver....what a mug I was for doing that but then a fiver was quite alot of money then to a 15 year old school kid.

A friend who's a bit skint has reluctantly put the following on eBay and they asked me to give it a mention on here, sorry for the spam but they could do with a few quid at the moment: 1947 Cup Final ticket, programme and songsheet, all framed

    http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/ORIGINAL-1947-FA-CUP-FINAL-CHARLTON-ATH-v-BURNLEY-programme-tickets-songsheet-/110956046648?pt=UK_Sports_Memorabilia_Football_Programmes_ET&hash=item19d57ee938

    Song sheet?!
    Featuring such timeless classics as:

    He Came By Horse
    Jimmy Seed's Red Army
Catford, The Mount (mist rolling in)
    The Wheels on the Charabanc

Don't forget Knees Up Sailor Brown....
  • Or in the case of Tommy Docherty, who's up Mrs Brown.
  • up to £150 now, how much do people think its worth?
  • I think it will go for around 220
  • Does need re-framing too
  • If i had the money id buy this.
Nice item ,shame we don't have a Charlton Museum that we could exhibit this in.
  • Have been outbid and its now up to £175

Was following one that went for £65 today.
    http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/261102695803?ssPageName=STRK:MEWAX:IT&_trksid=p3984.m1423.l2648

On asking him on the quality of the programme, his reply was

"There is a small rust point on the staple but as I have never removed it from the frame I cannot comment on the programme further"
  • I had bid for the first one but then saw this.

At £65 in a decent frame, I'm well happy.
  • Im about to get our one framed finally. The one that you brought Nick just shows the front page. Would that frame unlock so you could read the whole progamme? Ive not done one before so interested to know the best way to get it framed.

  • Not sure - it just looked really good in that frame to go next to my Walshie shirt.

I've got another one, so might see what I can do with putting them together - it just seemed a bargain compared to the one with the three stubs and song sheet.
  • I have never seen one go for that price. Normally around £120-£140.

My only concern was the quality of the programme. He couldn't guarantee that it even had the middle page. Fingers crossed it is all ok for you, if so, what a bargain
  • Noss's friend will be pleased - it went for £310. Way above what I thought it would go for.
  • Nice one. Good price. So robbo on the wing and a few others bought our programme as a wedding present. It's wrapped up. I've seen a framer in eltham. Was going to go there as have a few pics to be framed. But if anyone else can recommend somewhere local that would be great.

Does Garry Nelson still do that sort of thing?
  • Or else you could give Steve Jones a buzz - he got those Mendonca pics framed didn't he? Didn't he?
  • haha. Yes I didnt think of him! Good idea, anyone got his contact details?

No Gary is in a different line of work now.

If the OB can catch up with him, he can always say he was framed.
  • Just managed to get one on eBay for £67.
Well pleased, I hope it turns out to be OK. I hope I wasn't bidding against any other lifers. Apologies if I was.

It is now framed and hanging on the wall in my office. Well pleased with the result.
  • Years ago I had the 1947 program complete with ticket inside. Perfect condition. I was given it when I was 15 by the caretaker at my school. When I left home as a late teen I left it for safe keeping with all my other football books and programmes at mum's house. That was the last I saw of it as mum, in spring cleaning mode, decided to have a big clearout. I've often wondered what happened to it but I'm sure it ended up in some rubbish dump somewhere. What a waste!
  • Much the same as me Rob. My complete collection of programmes - including the 1947 final programme - was left in the care of my younger brother (an Arsenal supporter) when I left home. Last I ever saw of them, and nobody seems to know where they went. Too late now as she moved home many years ago.

You've just bought the same one back.

Your brother had put it on eBay.

  • I would never know. Just happy to have one again. It was lucky I got it at a decent price though.

Pretty sure my mum did the same with all my dads old shirts that he gave me... its costing me a small fortune trying to replace them.
