Striker ? he may be a decent link man with BWP but his first touch is appalling & his strike rate is something worse. No striker would try & control the ball from 3yards out, (as he did the last time I saw him play) they would slam it in the back of the net or into row zz.
As said as a link man maybe, but calling him a striker is like saying lisbie is still an exciting young prospect.....no thanks , Fortunately we have Big Yann !
I think the real point worth noting here is the fact that the board are happy to have five strikers jostling for two places which leads me to think that they want this promotion and don't want to risk anything going wrong. Our squad is at league one level very large given the quality. I suspect that our fifth choice striker whoever that might be would be expecting a start at all but a handfull of our league one competitors. All bodes well.
Either that or they are only willing to release him if he is sold permanently.
I have a lot of time for Hayes but he does have some obvious weaknesses and I fear that he will struggle in the Championship, rather like he did with Preston. He has only managed double figures in two seasons and they were both in this division - even though he played most of the games. Thus why would we want to let him go now only for us to be contacted to him in a higher division next season.
I don't know why Hayes isn't given the credit that he deserves. He's a good player, playing in league 1. Of course he's not going to be perfect because he is only in L1 and that is what division we are in. From what I have seen from Clarke (albeit not a lot so a judgement isn't really fair), Hayes is a better player.
I still think some of the above comments have been really harsh on Hayes. He started the first 11 games which we lost none of them scoring 23 goals, so he must of been doing something right. I'm not saying he should start, but similar to Andy Hughes I feel they have been treated harshly. Dont get me wrong we have done fine without them but what that must do to a players confidence must be horrible.
Thought Hayes was good at the start of the season, not a impact sub so he is never going to impress much from the bench, shame for him that Kerms has come in and been brilliant.
Defintley keep him as I'm not totally sure on Clarke yet and I know nothing about Haynes
I rate Hayes and think he was unlucky to be dropped as he set up a few goals early doors in the season but to fair Kerm has taken his chance since. He should be on the bench minimum for me.
I think Hayes is suffering from us having to many strikers who are quality or atleast possible quality with Haynes & Clarke but that is a great thing to say after the years of not really having one and he just has to wait for his chance and then take it.
The problem for Hayes is he's not an impact player. You don't bring him on with 15 minutes to go to try and change the game as it takes him about that long to gain a foothold in it. His style is settling himself and then looking for an intelligent ball through to another player, and then popping up in the box where possible. Haynes and Clarke are impact strikers with pace who can completely alter the dynamic of a game against tired players. Unfortunately for Hayes, Kermorgant is probably the best footballer at the club and continues to perform so Hayes won't be getting the starting berth and isn't enough use off the bench compared to others. It's a harsh reality more than harsh treatment by the management I feel. If Kerms picked up a knock I wouldn't be surprised to see Hayes take his place in the starting line-up.

Loving the depth of our squad this season. You could take out our 1st 11 and we'd still put out a better team than this time last year..............
