  • If I'm honest I think Mick McCarthy is taking a real punt on this one. Whilst I never rated him as a player there are enough people on here who did to make me think that there must be something there but having been out for so long with injury and failing to hold down a shirt at Yeovil I think this is a gamble for Ipswich. Good luck to Kelly though.
  • Well before that terrible injury he looked to me to have come good as a player for us. Not making the errors in eence he had early his time iwth us, and looking dangerous going forward. It was a shame for him and Charlton he did not recover in time, so yes good luck to him.
  • i thought he had the potential to be a very decent LB. Unlucky with injuries though.

    good luck to him.
  • really liked him - have got a signed shirt

    agreed

  • never ever saw the hype with him, massively overrated and a disaster waiting to happen at LB more often than not for me.

good luck to him though, very glad he's joined someone below us!
  • Wouldn't say there was ever 'hype' about him with Charlton fans. Was well regarded as a decent player, not a world beater though.
  • I thought he was a good defensive LB. A curbs player indeed.
  • definately a punt, been without a club since March.

Good luck to him. Not the worst ever Charlton player but far from the best too.
  • Always liked him as a player - thought he improved considerably during his time with us. Wish him well.

  • Always thought he was a decent player but too flashy, always looking at the spectacular pass rather than the simple ball to a players feet. However the season he got injured thought he showed maturity & he started playing for the team rather than for himself & thought he looked quality albeit in the 3rd div. Reckon we missed his attacking that season much like we are missing Wiggins this & he would have gone on to be a great LB for us. Wish him good luck & will certainly get a round of applause from me should he play at the valley for ipswich.
  • He was improving steadily for us prior to his injury.

He's had a long lay-off without much football but if he can come back as he was Ipswich will have a decent player capable of playing in the Championship.
  • He could be a good addition for ITFC when match fit.
  • Glad he's found a club was playing well for us in L1 before the injury. Think he struggled a bit at championship level though

A very low risk punt though, short term contract, low wages etc
  • I always liked Kelly, blew hot and cold but always gave it his all, good luck to the lad.

    agreed

  • Rolling contract?
  • not the best we've had at left back & always prone to an error or two..........like the one he did at Ipswich which gave them a penalty.
  • Good League 1 player. Should do well at Ipswich next season.

Not that big a punt though, probably low wages and only till Jan. going to have to work hard to prove himself in that time

  • I agree with Len ref his performances

However I also believe that there was nothing wrong with him when he refused to play for us at a time when we needed him most and for that reason he is a prick
  • I agree with Len ref his performa

Why do you believe there was nothing wrong with him.He had a serious injury and that is fact.
  • I liked him, very good going forwards but always a bit shaky defensive wise.

Still good luck to him though as he's had enough bad luck with his injuries.
  • I don't agree I think he was fit enough according to our club dr So I was told by someone involved in cafc at the time
  • Suffered a horrendous long term injury but was good before that. I suppose it just depends on how he bounces back as he's been out so long. Was excellent IMO before the injury. Sad story.
  • Would have Wiggins over Youga any day. Would even take Evina over Youga.

Time seems to have clouded people's memories as to just how pony he was for us at times. Yes he improved - but from a very low base. And yes he was unlucky with that injury, just at a time he'd finally come into a bit of form.

I wish him well and all that, but am not gonna jump on the love bandwagon.
  • Great acting in my name is earl as the crab man
  • I used to teach a girl whose name sounds like Youga. I always used to accidentally call her Kelly.

Agree, Wiggins is far the superior left back but Youga was good at the time and I hope he gets back to that form. Seemed a good guy too who wanted to play for us.
