Yes, the auctions are back, 'allo, 'allo.
First up in 2012 are two programmes originally owned by Charlton player Don Townsend, who featured in both games.
Lot A CAFC V Sheffield Utd 12 September 1959. Pages in good condition but sheets have split along seams above the central staple. Charlton drew 1 - 1 in front of 23,811 fans but this was to prove to be the last of a 6 game unbeaten run at the start of the season. Opening bid £3
Lot B Liverpool v CAFC 8 April 1961 Very good condition bar minor tear on back page. Charlton lost 2 -1 in front of 26,390 fans at 2nd division Anfield with World Cup winner Roger Hunt getting both home goals. Johnny Summers scored what would prove to be his last ever Charlton goal. Opening bid £4
As stated these were Don Townsend's programmes. He gave them to his son Andy (of Welling, Aston Villa and TV fame) who in turn gave them to our very own Large Addick. He very kindly donated them to these auctions.
In case you've missed the previous sales all the money goes to the Club. A cheque for £2k will be handed over to the Academy on Saturday by a motley crew of Lifers (pictures on Monday).
That two grand has already been spent on the new academy minibuses. In total we, ie you lot, have raised over £,3,000. Some also went to support the Young Addicks Christmas Party and we are talking to the Club about where else it can be used.
The auction closes this Friday 20 January at 5.00pm Highest bidder before 5.01 wins. Winner will need to pay postage or be willing to collect.
There are still a lot of shirts and other programmes, handbooks and prints to come.
Good luck.
