Young pros

edited January 2012 in General Charlton
4 youngsters receive pro contracts today.

2nd year scholars, Adebayo Azeez, Joe Piggot and Semi Ajayi got handed professional contracts. 1st year scholar Tobi Sho-Silva also received a pro contract.
Harriott, Osborne and Cousins received pro contracts at the start of the season. I think this is the best youth team for a good few years.

"Attackers Sho-Silva, Azeez and Pigott have netted 29 goals between them so far this season." - From the OS.

Agreed, had hoped it was going to be more suitable for the "recommend that person thread" when I opened it.
  • Would actually be good to get a profile of these lads by some of you who follow and have knowledge of them and how optomistic or otherwise you are as to their futures.
  • why is there a midget attacking piggott?

Get down to Welling tommorow night and see for yourselves they deserve the support and a home tie vs Spurs in the next round for the winners!

Well done to them, that's 6 of 11 second years that will be pro and 2 of 7 first years turning pro (Poyet being the other). Could still offer deals to others second years later on this season.

Usually announced around March which players turn pro, shows how well they've been doing.

Not seen them play this season but Pigott. Azeez and Sho-Silva have played as a front 3 and kept Harriott out of the side for quite a few games. OS says Harriott played in the midfield 3 on Saturday, obviously none of those 3 deserves to be dropped.

  • I went to school with Tobi sho-silva, he was fast and had a good shot but when he played with us he didn't really even stand out
  • Seen the Yoof a couple of times this season

Azeez - Tall, strong as an Ox. Very fast. Doesn't look like a footballer as he runs in a very upright style like Michael Johnson used to. Not entirely sure if he is going to make it or whether his size, speed and development give him an edge at this level. Could be awesome or could be meh

Joe Piggott - Lacks pace but looks like a proper striker. Very strong with his back to goal and certainly has an eye for goal. Like a young Shearer. Hugely rare to see a guy so prepared to hold the ball up at that level knowing fully well he is going to get clattered

Harry Osborne - The real deal. Pacy, strong but reads the game superbly. Needs to grow a little bit but looks a fabulous prospect.

Semi Ajayi - If I recall correctly he plays right back or right midfield. Adaptable and a great athlete. Technique may not be perfect

I went to schook with Andrew Musungu, currently in Stoke's youth team. When I played against him in inter-form, he couldn't get past me and I just thought he was hyped up. When I saw him play for the actual football team and when I saw videos of him, you could see his class. I think it's because they just can't be bothered when it doesn't really matter.
  • I went to school with Anton Ferdinand and he was GASH

  • why is there a midget attacking piggott?

    That's Solly.............................

And why is there no "quote" option on here now?
  • Semi Ajayi actually plays Centre Half.He has played right back but he is primarily a central defender. He is good in the air and is very quick.Has got a lot of the Richard Rufus about him i am happy to say.Needs to work on his distribution.
  • "Needs to work on his distribution."

Sounds just like our Roof then!! Never had a problem with the row Z option when required!
  • I went to school with @BexleyDan. Tremendous footballer, sublime really. Shame he opted out of football; suppose when it's that easy, there's no incentive ;-)
