The theory was you'd get auto promotion if you managed two points per game. At the moment in this division you more or less need that to be in the top six!!
When you consider we are 8 points ahead of where Brighton were last year it shows how well we have done. MK dons, who most still consider an outsider would have been 2nd last year with their record. Find all this encouraging for next season as well. However the last page and Leeds is still a soberer.
Wiggins performance against Hartlepool and Yann's against Huddersfield both highest average in there game at 8.75 I personally thought Yann's had better games than that one. He keeps getting better every game he plays
The most interesting thing about LL's cumulative stats is that those who have made the most regular appearances are seperated by 0.68 from first place to 14th place.
In other words, this is a team, a proper team without 'stars' (and I mean that in the best sense) and without any weak links. What it shows is that Powell has built a real 'team', in which there is no place for ego and everyone in the squad is playing for each other.
Personally, I wouldn't mind if 'Player of the Season' was witheld on the grounds that it would be invidious to single out any one player from what has been a magnificent collective effort.

Agreed. It should be a team award, unless there is some truly outstanding player in the 2nd half of the season.
Interesting to see that we now have an identical record to Leeds when they got promoted by the skin of their teeth. However, in their final 21 games, they lost over a third and only gained a further 29 points. I just can't see us collapsing like that but football can be a weird game.
I can't see it happening either but if you are the nervous type you can take comfort from the fact that we have played 11 at home and 14 away. I know we have been terrific away but if anything falls down it is usually the away results. Also we have already played Shef Wed, Utd, MK Dons and Stevenage away.
Answers to your queries: Jints - he doesn't as Hughes is actually "Down 1" RedArmy7 - Russell's shot not in the official L1 stats, but you are correct and I'll add it. Salad - last season after 26 games (Yeovil A) the only players averaging 7 or above were WP:7.19 and Solly:7.87, the team avg was 6.32 and before you ask for the 09/10 season the 7 or over averages after Hartlepool H were Bailey:7.05, Sodje:7.07 and Semedo 7.22 with the team average being 6.80
As well as Solly has played it seems strange that he got MOM. His job is to stop crosses and BBC stats have Marshall putting over at least four, plus on the video he stands idly by while Taylor gets mugged out by the touchline.
I think Powell has said that what he looks at is averaging 2 points a game as if you achieve or exceed that you go up. that is a more immediate target too.

This is in no way a dig, but I'm assuming you weren't there. If you were, you would have seen why he got man of the match, those four crosses must have been the only times he was passed all game. He frequently broke down attacks, and was good going forward.
Im probably miles out, but in what could be a record breaking season, are there another couple of records that might be on the cards already - most away wins ( therefore most away points ) never lose a league game in which we score ? Strange one, but so far that has happened consecutive home games in which we score ?? Sorry if this has already been done.
all goals in games lost have been scored by former Charlton players, therefore (according to latest HTFC rules) we haven't actually lost and are on a record breaking unbeaten run

Pritchard will go in at number 2 if he keeps this up.
How does JJ move one up if everyone below him stays the same?
shows how long that added time felt. i thought pritchard came off before that.
Thanks as ever LL.

This season there are currently ten players averaging above 7.00

although ten years ago Luton were second in Divison 3 with 97 points, so in theory another team could've been third with 96 points.
But they weren't.
