Hope those who made it to the New Barrack had a good time. Just beat that awful lot next week and the title is yours. Who was that number 36/26 who played up front by the way?
Kerms has been brilliant for us we signed him out of the blue and all we knew about him was the play off penalty miss at Leicester , but he's been brilliant.
Don't like some of the hate Semedo gets on here, was gutted when he left but we then went and signed Alonso/Stephens/Green probably all in the same week which helped soften the blow. Glad to see him doing well for Wednesday always gives his all and is a good player at breaking up play, he's not there to score or create that's for others to do plus he always comes across as a top bloke. Of all the ex players we play against Jose is the least deserving of any abuse imo
From Owlstalk...At least one of them talks sense...
First goal was vital, and it was a cracking goal. Charlton were a very good team at what they do, they were happy with the aerial bombardment we were giving them, they had two strong defenders who were capable of dealing with it unlike most opposition we have come up against at Hillsborough. As soon as they score all they needed to do was frustrate the players and the fans, just to kill the game off. And they did very effectively, sign of a good team.
But we didn't turn up either, the midfield was missing, Lines had a poor game imo never took control of the ball, and Semedo for all his hard work and endeavour struggled to get into the game.
I could not understand megson's tactics at all, why change 4 4 2? It was obvious Charlton were happy to head everything away they have the organisation and ability to deal with it. We should have kept Marshall on for sure, we needed craft and cleverness, we were never going to do that with Reda playing as a wing back and three strikers up front. It turned into complete desperation hoofball that last 20 minutes and we were are better than that. Also, JJ should have been at least on the bench, we were crying out for more pace and trickery, we just needed to unlock therir defence, and playing 3-4-3 or whatever it was was not going to work.
However, Charlton were a very effective side and came here to frustrate us, and did it very well. They will go up this season 100%, best team in the division. we need to buck our ideas up sligghtly and not lose focus this January, it is an important month. UTO
Despite all the deluded Wednesday fans, it's nice to see that their manager (despite being a mug of the highest order) can see the truth and actually says some good things about us!
Marshall having a bad game today gives me a sneaky feeling we are going to sign him, makes sense to me, he would hardly have a stormer against the team he is joining. I could be wrong but watch this space.
Who was that number 36 who played up front by the way?
New dutch player, Klaas Act
Dutch? Are you serious?
Who was that number 36/26 who played up front by the way?
36 is Yann Kermorgant. You might remember him as the guy who missed a play-off semi pen for Leicester a couple of years ago.
What did you think of him?
One of those players you would love in your side but hate to play against. Horrible little twat with every little devious trick in the book.
Funny cos u had atleast 6 of them urself.
Semedo got shown up today and resorted to fouling. Cheers Jose.
He didn't 'resort' to it, he plays like that every game for us.
He fouled every game for us too, it's just that Charlton fans seemed to be blind to it. He was always a liability in my opinion. It's not an opinion many other Charlton fans agree with but I said it then and continue to say it now. That song above seems accurate to me because I think League One is about as high as he'll get.
