Last saturday to this saturday

Do you think confidence may have taken a blow from the fulham game?

Before saturday i took the approach that no matter what the result, a trip to the cottage would only act as valuable experience and an enjoyable day out for players, staff and fans. BUT then we go and put in a terrific performance and top work-rate...and get stuffed 4-0.

I get the feeling BWP may have been most affected. 1 nil down and he gets a golden opportunity....scores and who knows what would have happened. I dont think the Pritchard interview in the News Shopper did him any favours either!

But on the other hand, i can see Pritchards confidence only increasing from the Fulham game. A player thats been used from the bench a handful of times, given a chance in a new position and he puts in a MOM performance.

Im not sure what to make of it tbh but i just got this niggly feeling that we are gonna be feeling disappointed at 4:45 on saturday. I really do hope im wrong!

  • BWP needs a goal and quick, a confident striker is a dangerous one and at the moment it is plain to see Bradley is a touch off the pace.

I think we will set our stall out as Wednesday did at the Valley that being we need to avoid defeat, if we can snatch a goal on the break all the better but I think Chrissy will take a draw and a 0-0 at that.

We have all said we would take 4 points from the next 6 and I don't think 3 of them will be at Wednesday.........mind you I hope I am proved wrong
  • I am also nervous about Saturday, Wednesday are buoyant, good home form and a good win against West Ham. And I agree about BWP's confidence but fortunately Kermogant was excellent and BWP will put one away soon.

The defence will be crucial and we need an on-form Green to try and stretch them. Have to say I would be ecstatic a point at this moment in time.
  • As I have said on another thread its the best home record in the league against the best away record so it has a draw written all over it which I would take.
  • Think we'll take alot of confidence that we created chances and put a Premier League team on the back foot for parts of the game especially when we got the ball down and played the way we can.

BWP is saving his goals for this week anyway, he just has to keep getting on the end of chances and one will eventually go in
  • We will win. 2-0
  • I think that Saturday will have given us a lot of confidence, we played well and at times matched them, unlucky with two if not three of the goals and Wednesday don't have a Dempsey. We will need to be tactically aware, Megson changed hios tacticis early at the valley and thats when we went from dominating to being on par. Keeping solid at the back, which despite the score is what happened at Fulham will set us up nicely.

As for BWP he had a better touch at Fulham so they need to work on him and show him the video. All strikers miss chances, but all they need is one benson like piece of luck.
  • Thought BWP looked a lot better on Saturday. He got a couple of shots away which he has been struggling to do recently. I thought although he didn't score, his "swagger" was back, and the ball stuck to him a lot more than it did in previous games.

His chance in the second half that Stockdale saved wasn't an easy one. Haven't seen a replay but seemed to get to it just as Stockdale got there to make the block. Touch more composure might have seen a different outcome but it wasn't a glaring miss. Similarly in the first half, he got a shot away and very nearly caught Stockdale out at his near post.

His performance was encouraging to me, and Hangeland and Senderos would have come out of that knowing they were in a game against BWP and Kermorgant.

My message to the players would be simple. Play as you did against Fulham and you will win at Wednesday.
  • Strange as it may seem after a 4-0 defeat , I think confidence will be as good if not higher because if we some of the football I saw for 20 minutes in the second half on saturday we will come away comfortably with three points.
  • i suppose its just ensuring CP makes sure the players concentrate on the positives from sat...like ya say, such as the football we played especially between 45-60 mins.
  • I've said it the last couple of weeks that BWP will find his scoring boots Saturday and get at least 1.

  • wonder when the last time was that the Wendies lost at home?
  • Has the look of a draw for me, which I think most of us would be happy with. It's them that are playing catch up, and when they look at our away form they will be made aware of the damage a defeat would do to them.

Players know they matched Fulham at times and the score was totally undeserved ... I don't believe they have been affected at all by the Fulham result except in a positive way
