The BBC today reported that the House of Commons science committee has recommended that on two days a week we should abstain from alcohol. I thoroughly agree with that recommendation and indeed have practised it for several years. The key is (like our MPs) in the presentation. Two days a week is 48 hours. Therefore I abstain from drinking any alcohol between midnight and 7 in the morning. This in fact gives me 49 hours alcohol free hours EVERY week - more than is recommended. And I don't miss out on my sleep, so I'm a winner twice over.
I pass this handy tip on to other Lifers although you may wish to juggle with the hours a little. Can't write any more as I've also read a headline saying that red wine is good for the heart so I'm off to improve my health even more.

And the less said about the 8th the better!
I like a drink, but more than happy containing it to just once or twice a week.
Looking forward to having those two days off to be honest....
I like a pint but it would cease to be enjoyable if it becomes part of my every day life. I think a pint or two at the weekend wont do you any harm but it also wont do you any good.
