Yellow lines on Bank Holidays

Got a ticket at the game today for parking on a yellow line, me and my Dad were under the impression that it was okay to do so on a Bank Holiday but obviously not. There were no sign postings about times you can park there so don't know if we could make a successful appeal?

Anyone help?

    You can't.

    I parked in a two hour free bay abd specifically asked one of the marauding wardens if I was OK. She said the marked bays were OK but anyone parked on a yellow would be booked.

    You can appeal - you can appeal any parking fine. However, you stand zero chance of winning.

    Oh well at least I know in future, at least we won otherwise I would've been really pissed off!

    To make a successful appeal you'd have to find an adjacent plate that clearly stated that BHs are an exception; if there's not one, I'm not sure what your grounds would be.

    No grounds to appeal - sorry. I got a ticket on a bank holiday in Greenwich and I was told to forget it and pay up after appealing. All to do with Controlled Zones and as Stig stated above the BH needs to be specifically exempted on the kerbside plate.

    You can appeal it, and you will win if you can find one set of signs into the zone not clearly visible. If you were west of Charlton Church Lane, the ones to look at is are at the top of victoria way. I appealed a couple of years back and won. The signs there were not clear (hidden by other signs and turned at 90 degrees), so how was i to know i was in a controlled zone?
    No guarantee but nearly all fines have a get out on what some would call a 'technicality'.
    Also, there are some good websites covering this, if you can be bothered to research.
