Yann Kermorgant- becoming more important to the team

  • As a fantastic footballer with the added bonus of being a great warrior for this team Yann is quite exceptional and in a way he is out on his own. You cannot compare him to BWP even for his work-rate as BWP is a poacher (a very good one) who today played ever so well even defensively Yann is ideally best suited just behind him providing balls to him along with the midfield and in fairness bwp has not been able to poach lately as the poachable chances have not so readily been there. Why Yann gets more plaudits than bwp is because there are more balls at present in the air and bwp is ok but not brilliant in the air. When we play to feet more bwp is better than yann and yann would say this himself. Yann will be player of the season more through the way the ball is played in the air than for any other reason PLUS his battling attitude. You just want to stand up and salute this guy!
I'm afraid I have to say that I disagree as I'm pretty sure Yann wouldn't say BWP is better than him on the deck.  Have you seen BWP's touch?!  Neither have I.  BWP is great at this level, but Yann is an all round better footballer and deserves all the plaudits he's been getting.  Absolute champion.
    What that man said...
  • A confident on form BWP has a good touch
  • Yann was the man I was most looking forward to seeing and I haven't been disappointed. He times his jumps perfectly, he hangs in the air, he has a magnificent touch and the effort he puts in in closing down defenders and tackling back is inspirational. BWP on the other hand, very disappointing. Seems to be totally lacking confidence, had trouble making the shortest of passes and shooting was woeful. Are you sure he hit the post, I thought it was Hollands!
  • I'm pretty sure it was Jackson that hit the post.
  • How many underwhelmed people do we still have with the signing
  • I thought it was Yann as well, but with or without the post the French boy done good.
  • Report from Gary Haines says it was Jacko that hit the post.
  • My fave player already, haven't seen a player work that hard for the cause in years! Warrior!
  • I really don't care who hit the post! ;-0
  • He's been tremendous for us. Can you also imagine the sheer hassle of playing against the guy ? You'd never get a moments peace as a defender...

Jackson I thought hit the angle of post and bar
  • I thought it was Kermy who hit the woodwork

Perhaps jumping the gun on our Steel City games this guy must be part of next year's team in the championship

Attitude, skilll, maturity - he's leading from the front

Curbs (and the best managers) build the spine of a team before worrying about the frills and this guy is good for a year or two!
  • Proper bloke of a footballer , love him , such energy
And I think he could play at the top level ,
He just hangs in the air
    How old is he ?

    Reminds me of Les Ferdinand

  • Absolutely fantastic player for us and SCP clearly knew that from Leicester. I'm so glad he missed that penalty or he might still be there!

As the sign above the tunnel says, Quality is Expected. Effort is Required. Yann Kermorgant has quality and also puts a shift in like almost - Chris Solly, I'm looking at you - nobody else in the team. One of the first names on SCP's teamsheet each week I suspect.
  • Agree with all that has been said about Kermo - a great player although personally i think one area of his game that could maybe be improved is when he gets the ball into feet he needs to hold it up and relax on it more and pick out the right pass - this is the one bit of Hayes game that is possibly better than Kermo's and although Kermo brings so much more, i think with Stephens out as well, we're lacking a bit of a conductor out there at the moment. Arsenal had all these great athletes with pace etc but it was Bergkamp who used to pull the strings and i'm hoping Stephens coming back might solve it. If not, it'sa  real conundrum because Kermo and BWP don't appear to gel that well.
  • Yann is class. My player of the year so far, just edging out Hollands, Morro Solly and Wiggins! And Bwp and Green, and Taylor, Hamer, Jackson! As a team we have been class.
  • After his debut, I started a thread about how I thought he wasn't all that, and that Hayes shouldn't have lost his place. I now change my mind after watching Yann regularly. He's a warrior, doesn't stop for the whole game, has quality, keep it up big man!
  • I think Yann is brilliant but do you think Bradley prefers to play alongside Hayes , and thats why he's gone off the boil?

    Bradley needs a rest.

Think this is the first time I have to disagree with you Dan, if you look back at the Orient game and yesterday, when Kermo did get it to feet he doesn't lose it, but if your stating the 'right' pass BWP is not giving him the channels to play him in enough - Kermo's great hold up play (out to Green on a plate) Brentford away resulted in our goal - obviously IMO
  • What a man Yann is.

Challenges for every ball and goes all over the pitch trying to get it back.

He even ended up in defense for a bit yesterday.

Plus on top of that he still scores and sets up goals.

All this for the price of £ 0.
  • MOM yesterday without doubt, i'm more impressed each game, top bit of business by SCP,,,,,,,,,,,,,Viva La france!!!
  • Fantastic against Brentford yesterday I hope we can sign him permanently
    what ??

    He means forever ;0)
  • I agree with those who think BWP could do with a rest - he looks to me like a player who is playing at 90% because he's protecting an injury. Rumour is that he has an injection for his knee/s every game. If we bring only one player in the window it has to be somebody who can play the BWP role. Give him a month off, let him rest his knees up and bring him back in. Just a suggestion but we definitely are not functioning properly up top at the moment.

  • big ups to the management as his signing was kept under wraps ,he may turn out to be more important to us than BWP ,talking of whom he needs a rest .Leave him out of the Fulham game .I think YK has more to give at a higher level than BWP ....
  • Best player we have signed for years. has consigned the dark days of Sam, Semedo and racon to the dustbin. This is a proper footballer with skill and power to match. My MOM most weeks, especially yesterday......
