Millwall v Palace tomorrow

edited December 2011 in General Charlton
Millwall mate just mailed me. Made me laugh.

Rumours that Coward's Way is closed for repairs, so palarse will have to
slum it on Ilderton Road with the rest of us. I suppose we'll see if South
London is theirs...

They really are the mouthiest set of weirdos to set foot in a football
ground - take 3000 to Saints on Boxing day, then can't fill the upper tier just
down the road at their closest rivals and spend hours debating why! Nothing
changes!

  • Best quote I read was

Beacause its a thoroughly unpleasant experience.

    He's got a point !
  • I'm going to the game tomorrow as the 1 O'Clock kick off means I can do the double header by doubling back to see us at Orient at 5pm .I think it will be an intersting game.

The Palace Ultras seem to be one of the most bizzaire supporters groups ever ,I certainly cannot see them parade their flag walking down Ilderton Road , what is the point of them ?

I noticed the Millwall fans have pointed out to the Nigels that we had no problems selling out both tiers of the away end two years ago , although I must admit I agree it is an awful ground to visit as an away fan.

  • Don't think we should be too smug tbh. If we had played there as many times as they have in recent years, I reckon we would have exactly the same problems.

We only took 1200 to palace in the prem remember one year.

Our last trip to millwall was the first in what, 10 years? We all know we love a bit of new ground syndrome, which it would of been for a lot of people.

Most Charlton supporters would have been to the New Den before that game so I'm not sure it was new ground syndrome .

I think with both teams chasing a Play Off slot that most of us made the effort that year , if we were 2 points off a Play Off slot in the CCC ( as Palace are )we would sell out although I agree if we were struggling after regular visits we might not.

  • Score : Millwall 2 - Palace 1

Why on earth would you want to do that?
  • We would sell it out within a flash.

What rivalry is all about, wanting to be there to see your team beating the muppets at the den

Why on earth would you want to do that?

Because I think it will be an interesting game and as a neutral I like to ground hop and watch different teams when not watching the Addicks . I will be at Brisbane Road so it does not affect watching Charlton.

I also can't lose if the Spanners win it will be funny watching the Ultras get upset as it would the other way round if the Nigels are triumphant.

I think that may have been because they were charging £35. I'm not even certain that I went that year. I think I refused to go as didn't want to give Jordan £35. That is serious piss taking, just like when Chelsea were charging £45.

    exactly

14 years it was from our last visit to the scum

although nearly 3k to soton and struggling for 2k at the scum is weird

  • So we take more to orient in league 1, 20 past 5 on new years eve live on sky then they do in the division above 6 miles down the road on the verge of a playoff spot to the premierleague
  • But we are only ordinary fans and they are ultras.....we cant match that

Woah, steady there. You're making a late challenge yourself there with that comment.
  • The nigels are scared. FACT.
  • Waste of time the whole away support argument is, when the team play well we go in good numbers if we're not then we'll only get big attendances for local games.

We're not a Leeds, West Ham etc and we never will have that support unless we manage a miraculous run in the champions league for 5 years backed by Kevin Cash....

The season that we were down by Xmas

Exactly, we came bottom for away support in one of our worst seasons, what a surprise
  • The nigels are scared. FACT.
Lots of people on here were making Bermondsey sound like Basra before we went to the Den and the most trouble we had was some Addicks nicking a policeman's hat!
  • Can they both lose?

Robbo on the Wing, post of the year.

    Happy New Year.
  • They obviously heard they wouldn't be getting a police escort this time so gave it a swerve. All tough behind the old bill the in home game!
  • Organiser is bang on although I still think we would sell out 2200 no problem but the amount of posts on here post match saying they would never go there again etc.

Its probably the safest ground in the country these days, especially when they lock you in for an hour afterwards but its also the main reason a lot of fans swerve it.

I will go next year if they stay up as that and Palace are our biggest games but it isnt an enjoyable experience, especially when you lose 4-0

Id normally want Millwall to win this one but I really don't want them picking up points as they're down at the bottom. That said I hate Palace and never wish them to win ever so Im just going to try and avoid looking at the score.
  • 0-0 bore draw just like the previous game this season.

  • We'll sell out the 2k easily, probably won't get the lower tier again. I think the team having more fight abut them will attract a lot of people back.
  • The new den was the least intimidating ground I've been to.

11 year olds threatening you and waving there arms around behind the police was just funny
  • their keeper was just on talksport saying it will be a full house

ha ha ha ha ha ha ha
