Pubs for Fulham?

edited December 2011 in General Charlton
Group of about 30 of us going - mainly Charlton fans although a few Fulham as well. Mixture of dads, kids and grandads. Thinking of getting over there about 1.00 - 1.30. Any suggestions? Looking for a decent pub that won't mind having a few kids in tow.

  • Seem to remember the Bedford Arms being a good pub

The White Horse on Parsons Green (about 15 minutes walk from The Cottage).....very famous pub, big frontage with spaceheaters, excellent food with as good a selection of beers etc as you'll find anywhere.......might even be the odd rock star/actor lurking around too.

Excellent reviews on Google..........including a 5 star rating from Time Out Magazine.

  • no idea of the name of the place, but we went to one the south side of the river (right on it) near the bridge which was nice, come out the station and turn right and walk up Putney High St - bare in mind though that an 'ash tray' sized bowl of chips was about £4 - eat first!.
  • I remember our visit there in 1998, pub near the ground did a BBQ, for the life of me I cant remember the name.

  • Eight Bells was a nice pub when i went to See Fulham V Gers

Sounds like Dukes Head - huge pub, Youngs bitter - superb boozer.

From Putney Bridge you go to main road, cross bridge and turn right, from mainline turn right out of station, down High St and left at river.

looks a bit small inside though so I've decided to heed the advice above and go for the Dukes Head which means a quicker journey, waterloo to putney and a walk over the bridge and through park before game so kids can burn a bit off after watching us drink.
  • Holiday Inn Putney, child friendly, prices are cheaper than that of local pubs, as well as plenty of room
  • The White Horse on Parsons Green was very welcoming post match a few seasons ago when we went, played some Fulham fans at table football and ended up having a late one with them, a really good night and we were made very welcome, before hand there is a huge aussie run sports pub near the park entrance, should be able to watch the early kick off game in there but no away fans afterwards from memory
  • Afka, let me know when you have sorted the child friendly boozer
  • Bugger.....wish I was going.
