Why do it

edited December 2011 in General Charlton

Did any one see the fan mouthing off at Roy Hodgson on Match of the Day in close up, wonder if he will be prosecuted, same as the fans when corners are being taken by the opposing team, or throw ins.......it will never stop. Why people have to vent their feelings in such a way is beyond me,even some of the gestures are just not called for and they wonder why some players or even managers retaliate and then they are the ones investigated or printed all over the back pages. If you was spoken to at work in a rude manner I don't think many would stay quiet and what gives us the right to abuse the opposing players in such a ruthless way,or any one on the pitch come to that.I'm all for voicing your opinions but does it have to be with such a foul ruthless attitude. As a fan of 45yrs I can remember being down the front with the police pratroling the perimimter of the pitch and if they felt your language was bit rife,it would be a look and a quiet word...how things have changed.Probably get some tasty remarks but thought it would be interesting what others felt about how it all seems to be progressing the wrong way.

  • Don't see a problem tbh as just likeI don't see a problem when players give a bit back!
  • If you really want to hear foul and abusive language aimed at match officials...sit near the away dugout. The use of the F and C word on saturday could be heard quite plainly.
  • I don't like it, but then on occasion find myself shouting and swearing at the ref or linesman - t's a passionate game!
  • Can't really see the problem myself, a vast majority of fans have been at work all week, stuck on crowded trains and roads trying to get there as well.

If someone wants to blow off a bit of steam at a football match which he/she has paid to attend good luck to them.

Exactly, FFS its a football match and supposed to be full of passion.
  • If it was rooney then this thread would already be in treble figures.
  • You always wonder the what the reaction of some of these hardcases would be if a player took them up on their offer.  I recall a certain palace boy not being quite as up for the fight.  I must admit I don't really mind it, but it's dreadful when they give it out and then run off to the cops in mortal outrage when a player gives a bit back.

Would love to see someone complain to the Stewards and have them escort Paul Dickov out of the ground for foul and abusive language :)

I wasn't close enough to hear Dickov, but close enough to see his face when he was shouting at the 4th official. His face was so twisted and contorted it looked pure evil. I suppose being an ugly git gave him a head start.
