Going to have to stop looking at the promo meter it always worries me
Agreed! It brings back too many memories of Leeds' troubles in the 2nd half of the season 2 years ago after being in an almost identical position to us this year. It also shows that we had two good starts to the last 2 seasons only to fall away after Xmas. There is still a very long way to go!!
It is but then again the club is in a very different place this time round... let's see if we can take on the second half of the season - perhaps with some returns from injury and one or two new faces in the window?
Another way to look at it is have a look at where Leeds, Southampton and Norwich are now sitting! Success breeds success!!!
Anyway there's something wrong with the away stats two seasons ago I think that it should be won 5? and drawn 4? lost 2? away from home because if you add up the home and away breakdown it comes to 27 games played? We have only lost one game plus a much better away record this time round.
that is sobering - just three points more than two years ago
Not really I feel much more confident with this group of players than I did with the relegated squad under the direction of the previous manager.
hmmm - I bet a bit of trawling might suggest otherwise (I mean in general rather than you, or anyone else, in particular). true it was a squad with some prima donna left overs on PL wages but there were also some good players, I guess the key difference this time is that we have a squad hand picked from scratch, nonetheless I think we have been overly confident recently especially with disparaging remarks towards rivals such as Wednesday (I can hear a tawny owl outside by the way :-) )

Isn't it just.
FFS - we've only lost once all season. Can you not see the difference between Parky's bargain basement rag- tag-and-bobtail army and SCP's forensically assembled unit? Nothing 'sobering' about that. It's heady stuff and so let's indulge ourselves over Christmas by celebrating our success.
I can't see what nightcap you're drinking Salad but I suspect the vessel is half empty rather than half fiull ! Go on admit it I'm right aren't I ?............lets all lighten up as IA says enjoy the moment and relish the challenge ahead in the second half of the season - not fear it. COYR

Just needs a run of 8 consecutive wins and we can all relax
Thanks again LL for producing this, I still think we area better all round teamthan two seasons ago and with JJ and DS to come back, plus BWP to get over his 'slight blip in form' then I am hopeful that this season we drop away after Xmas. Merry Chritmas @LL
Deadred - you are quite right, I had yet another mental aberration and the away results are W5, D4, L2, however the points are correct, one other error the date should have read 12/12/09
Great stuff as ever LL. I agree with Salad, that old table is quite sobering in that we were looking very good for promotion and then threw it away. I'm not saying that we'll do the same this season, just that it shows how promotion needs concerted effort right through the season, not just part of it.
Lancs , its interesting to see at what time different people score their goals, not many players score between 75- 90 mins , which is a concern in my head now i've seen it if we are 0-0 after 75 mins! 2 for Jacko though.

To me, that says more about people's perceptions of two years ago - it's deemed a massive failure by nearly everyone, but we were one result away from automatic promotion.
I'm sure CP is more than aware of the fact Charlton teams historically switch off with the Christmas lights , the difference is we have a heck of a lot to play for.

I think this year we are differerent and the squad is better , two years ago I would argue our team was as good or better than any other in the league that year but injuries took their toil . This year I feel we could cope better without resorting to the loan market or if we needed to we could much quicker , we suffered in the Millwall by playing Solly at Left Back
Also remember if we had won three points more two years ago we would have been promoted and Leeds's stumble was partly due to FA Cup and JPT Cup runs which led to a backlogue of fixtures.
A reminder we're not up yet - but every reason to have confidence that we are good enough.
However looking at first half/second half split does she we go into a game with a great plan but where is plan B if it doesn't work. BWP scored 10 in 1st half but only 4 in second half . Definately need a striker in the January window who can come on and shake things up if things are so rosy!

We were one goal (at Elland Road) away from automatic promotion.

Think Hamer's got 6 in 17, so 1 in 3 really
