That's come around quickly hasn't it?  In his own words:

"The past 25 have been better than the first".

Once he got his own team, rather than Parky's patchwork army, in other words!

Liked the way he said he was ''still learning''. Obviously true, but there are a lot of young managers who wouldn't have the humility to say that when they're sitting proudly on  top of the league.
  • And just think, he's only going to get better with that experience. I really hope we have the next Curbishley in charge (in terms of longevity anyway.)
  • It will be interesting in the next couple of years if we continue to progress what will happen when that inevitable phone call comes from a club that is on the next rung up.

Bring it on. If he's that sort after, then we must be on the up.
  • Its a thumbs up

    Shouldn't that be "rang up"?

    Wheres me coat?

  • I think the interesting point to be made is that if he had been forced to work with the old situation, he might be labelled a flop. With the improved backing he is quite rightly being lauded. Then look at the bigger picture, and you might review your opinion about a lot of managers including Parkinson.

Def no from me too, I like Parkinson and think he did a good job in difficult cirumstances!!  Cue large Addick ;-)
  • Agree with Granpa and Kap10. I think Parkinson did a decent job given budgets and resources. Playoffs and then in playoff position when fired. However, very happy with what SCP has done this year to date. After the 2 recent draws to indifferent sides, here's to 4 points from our next two away games!

I've counted it up a couple of times, and I can only count 49 games, with the stats being W23, D12, L14.  Even if you include the Sheffield Wednesday game where he watched from the stands, that's an extra draw not an extra win.  Can someone else confirm this for me?  I've done it manually, counting up the games on the OS.

Anyway, the point of doing that was this:
    First 25 games:
    W6      D6    L11
    Next 24 games:
    W17    D6    L3
  • Does this include friendlies?
  • He was caretaker manager at Leicester, where he won 1/1 games.
  • Thank you singer, I didn't realise it was Powell's first 50 games anywhere - I wondered if it was including that pre-season friendly 'The People's Cup'!

Mendonca In Asdas - it's all league and cup games.
  • No problem but i might be wrong...
  • Totally agree with Incorruptibles post other than I would delete his 'team' for 'money'
  • I counted the game against Bromley in the Kent Cup in my total of 50.
  • People say it's down to money but the facts don't stack up. How much, net, has CP spent?

What he has done is ruthlessly dumped the under performers including letting the fans' POTY go and replaced with the sort of players that stood Curbs in good stead.

Most of all we are playing good football again. Something that has been sadly missing in the last few seasons.

CP still has things to learn, particularly about changing games with substitutions but he seems a quick learner. I was afraid he was too nice to make a decent manager but I guess I was wrong about that!

  • It is money when you can sign the better players in this division on 3 year deals and pay a reasonable fee.

I'd say the investment in the scouting set up and other things football related behind the scenes also counts.

All money that just wasn't there until the takeover happened.
