There is a rumour that a meeting was held at The Valley this week to discuss a mins silence for Mark Pitts(Selwyn) at this meeting it was decided that as Mark was a football hooligan he wouldnt get one ! I received this via a text last night and a phone call at 8 AM this morning asking me if this was true. A few issues here :
* Was there a meeting either about the yearly mins silence or specific to Mark ?
* Was it decided he wouldnt be included as he was a football hooligan ?
Just for everyones benefit:
* Mark hasnt been involved as any sort of footie herbert for more than 20 years.
* Mark has been attending CAFC games for 30 years
* Check out Cardinal Sins blog " drinking during the game" it says it all about Mark far better than i ever could
* Mark would have been there for ANY CAFC fan and often put himself on offer when he didnt have to.( to help others). Derby,Coventry,Pompey,Birmingham, Shef Wednesday to name a few times.
* On other sites he has been discribed as " a legend"---" a proper gent"--- " a real man" ------" a true mate"----" The guvnor". He was all of these.
CAFC should be proud people like MARK PITTS followed them for decades and if its true re his exclusion then SHAME on you.

By complete coincidence I was chatting to one of the check out ladies at Aldi, in Swanley, earlier today and knowing I support Charlton she mentioned Selwyn. Although her family are Millwall they had known him as a good friend for years.
She said she would be at his funeral on the 30th and the turnout is expected to be huge.
There is a minutes applause for Peter Croker, the FA Cup winning player, on Saturday.
Don't know why you are getting so hot under the collar, something based on a rumour, get it verified and maybe its worth talking about. I am sure the club has other things to do than discuss each fan who has passed away and discuss their merits.

Who is expected to respond to it ? The club people who post on here, which we are grateful for, work in relation to tickets, coaches, club shop and valley gold.
If you want something like this confirmed or denied, email Mick Everett, head of Operations at Mick.Everett@cafc.co.UK or his assistant John Little. They would know.
I contacted the so called "fans director" about a minutes silence for Duncan, he was very dismissive of the idea.
Duncans name was on the roll of honour for those that had passed away over the year. Didn't hear about his son & the flag but to be honest nothing would suprise me re the security mob.
That's complete and total nonsense.
It was partly in response to the requests for a minutes silence for Duncan Frame that the "so called fans Director" got the club to start the minutes remembrance for all fans, officials and players who had died in the previous year. The first time it happened Duncan's name was on the big screen along with the many other much loved and missed fans.
Since then I think we've had two more and there will be another this season.
OK let's put this to bed, I have rung up up my Dad on this & he said there has been NO meeting at the club regarding a minutes silence for Mark Pitts, he also pointed out to me that the club do an annual rememberance for fans & if someone asks for Mark's name to be added to that list of course it will be.
Just to Re-iterate - NO MEETING took place at the club regarding this matter so whoever passed on this information is mistaken.
I understand the club may not wish to remember the more colourful characters from our past, like Duncan & Selwyn. However, as a fan they are as much part of the history as Hales, Mendonca, Curbs etc. These guys were there for many years man and boy, and I know many of us will never forget them. RIP
Ketman has clearly said that Mark's name can be included at the annual tribute just as Duncan's was.

Actually you are talking complete & total nonsense, I asked about a minutes silence for Duncan & he didn't want to know.
Whatever subsequently happened doesn't alter the fact.
I have already stated that Duncans name was on the roll call ???????
A minutes silence wasn't possible but it highlighted the fact that there wasn't a way to publicly remember players, officials and fans hence the fans director lobbying the club for an annual remembrance event (which incidently was opposed by Mr A Pardew) and has now become a regular event.
