Where will we be in 5 years time?

edited December 2011 in General Charlton
I was just having a massive debate with a Millwall (deluded) mate about where we will be in 5 years. He does think we will go up this year but is predicting we struggle in the Championship and he obviously thinks that they are good enough to challenge for play-offs this season even, which is why I say deluded!

I think we will go up and surely challenge play-offs next season with the team we have, and I think the board will have a minimum target finish of at least top 10. I'm sure we will make a few new signings come the summer but nothing major. Within 5 years who knows with the right stability and momentum we could do a Norwich!

Your thoughts?

I told him restoring normality ;)
  • Relegated from the premier league after welcoming back Pardew and Dowie as joint managers.

hopefully this but most definitely above the scum (and thats millsmall to the uneducated amongst you)
  • Champions league final against Norwich (as every other club will fail the financial fair play regulations)
Palace will go into administration and will be forced to groundshare with Brighton
Millwall will move back to the Isle of Dogs after the Den rusts to the ground. They will play their games at Mudchute Farm.
CAFC will be presented with 'No 1 in South London' plaque by Her Majesty The Queen in front of a 40k Valley.

    ...why not.

  • bottom 1/2 of the premiership ... and OUT of the EE f***ing C

very yes ! if that were so do you think we d still have the same ownership or do you think we would have become a south east london sheikdom by then ? with the ground built to 40,000 capacity or more !

and would we also be part of a anglo scandivian trading alliance ?
  • Top 10 in the prem
  • Lincs - it is the EU.  It hasn't been the EEC for YEARS (let alone the EE f***ing C).  Do keep up or Prague will give you some homework.

in the 1970s I voted for British entry to the EEC, not the EU  .. I have no wish to get into bed and 'unite' in 'union' with either Swedes or Italians, Germans or Greeks .. well not the men anyway .. and as for Herr Prague .. he's gone bloody native
  • Should we gain promotion this season the squad will need strengthening so we will see just how ambitious the Mysterons really are. In five years I see us being one of the top Championship teams pushing for promotion.
  • Chris Powell buys The World Footballer Of The Year, He plays for us for half a season but when the funds run out he jumps ship and leaves Charlton in the stink. We suffer successive relegations, end up in the blue square premier, the ground is sold and we have to share with Palace. Again. Thats proper Charlton!

    All in five years !
  • We will be bought by oil barons from the middle east. Mourinho will be our Manager and we will win the Premier and go close in the European Cup. The team will have some of the best players in Europe. However, we will play the most boring football and the majority of fans will want back the 'good old days'.
  • Struggling to stay in the prem for the third year running after Chris Powell left for the England job.
  • I have a bet we will be in the Prem within 5 yrs, to lose would not cost me any money but will cost me my dignity so lets hope I am right!
  • If we are in the prem in five years time (or less) and if CP is still our manager then I'm betting that the "Powell aint gotta clue" thread will be interesting reading.

Swiftly followed by the "Powell has taken us as far as he can" thread. Then he will leave for Derby County, get the sack, take them to court and never work in management again.
  • Chris Powell to get us in the Premiership after our second season in the Championship. Finished 11th in our first season back. Currently we are sitting 6th in the premiership and Powell is rumoured to be leaving for the England job. The first black national manager. Watch this space!!
  • Mid table Championship along with Palace. Milwall will be in league one.
