Another Big Ron one was the reducer in midfield, i.e the thug who licks lumps out of the opposition.
Well if anyone tried to 'lick' lumps out of Danny Hollands I suspect his misses would be most concerned!!!
  • All this game needs now is a goal. No shit sherlock!
  • Often heard - ‘We conceded the goal at the wrong time’

Excuse me – but exactly when is the right time to concede a goal ?

When you're 5 nil up and there is only 10 seconds left of added time.

    Next question please.........

  • at the end of the day it was a game of two halves, six and two threes to be fair, the boy done well as soon as he crossed the whitewash onto the paddock and got a feel for it. As I see it it's a point gained and not  two dropped but the referee was diabolical, decisions like that can cost jobs and not just at this football club. I'll be having a word with Pedro tomorrow after training. He's a terrific little player but no matter how bad the tackle, stabbing a fellow pro in the back with a carving knife in the tunnel after the game is not on. He's just gotta get used to the pace of the game in the pwemier leege

Sums it all up really, doesn't it?
  • 'he's lost a yard of pace' A yard of pace over 5 yards or 50 yards meansa  completely different thing and therefore renders it a shite statement. 'He's been very professional there' - i.e, he's cheated.
  • "This is their cup final"

no its not. its a cup tie against a side higher in the football pyramid.*

     *unless said at a final.
  • By a manager after any leg-breaking challenge - "He's not that type of player" -said about everyone apart from Kevin Muscat

Also "he needed to raise his arms for leverage" -after an elbow in the face. Total rubbish - it only (possibly) helps if the arms are down by the time you've leapt.
  • 'He's been cute there' - he's cheated.
'A good, honest pro' - he's not very good.

  • Don't like it when the commentator says a team has won a penalty as it seems to imply cheating when most penalties are correctly awarded.
