Have to say that The Saddlers Club House was a really welcome feature of the ground (well done to them) though service was painfully slow............but from there it seemed to go downhill somewhat.
Inside the stadium it was a flat atmosphere all round to be honest, cold a bit bleak and we didn't do much out on the park to stir the emotions.
As for Saddlers criticizing our fans I'm somewhat puzzled, they wern't up to much either to be honest. I was sat just behind our dug-out and they spent all their time having pops at the ref and lino's rather than actually supporting their team. Never seen such a sustained attack on a ref, it was constant and started almost from the off.....................it's deffo a feature of their support which they need to address IMHO as they seemed to be there to do that rather than encourage their players and the team.
As for us Addicks........the crowd mirrored the performance to be honest........below par.
They built that stand with 2 tiers so that they could have advertising on the top of it which could be seen from the M6. Fact.
Agree that the atmosphere was pretty poor yesterday, as was the performance, the game, the stadium, the pitch...etc. Was a good day out though with the Charlton fans in the social club beforehand and in the pub at the station after.
More relevant than the comment about our fans was someone' comment about our hoofball! Bit of an exageration but in the first half they tried to play much more football than us in the first half.
I thought there were more. The other thing that is a bit odd was that Airman said we had sold 996 from memory which means only 69 on the day whereas other games have been 300 or 400
Well ooohaah......all I can say is that our end 'definately' looked 3/4 full...if it holds 2000 then our support 'had' to be at least 14 to 16 hundred............certainly more than the 1,065 being touted as the 'official' (aghem!) figure.
I'd stake my life that there were considerably more than that there.
i don't think they've included the walk up , as redman says airmans last quote was 966, so we would have had 3-400 walk up to make it nearer what soundas viewed

Now that makes sense. I reckon that's what it is. Like Soundas says if that end holds 2000 we had 1500 there. Only the far ends were sparsely populated. The "middle three quarters" were pretty full.
Racist and homophobic chanting is also illeagal, the other one is just a bit pathetic.
I actually agree that whilst the incest song is unsavoury, pathetic and moronic it isn't illegal whereas both the others are. I don't think many would moan if the incest song was sung once in a while when playing say Norwich but it is wheeled out every week and it becoming purile and stupid.
There were 978 tickets sold in advance. I couldn't estimate how many were in the away end, except to say that from experience the stands always look more full than they are.
The away walk-up is very variable from match to match and the numbers at MKD and Sheffield United were unusually high. It's quite feasible we only had 87 people pay on the day, especially as there was a small price increase, which tends to concentrate people's minds.
That said, I struggle to believe there were three times as many Walsall fans there as Charlton.
"If we took 1200 to Charlton" point is they never would. I doubt they have many more than that on an average home match. Hilarious they are that petty, the one thing they can find to moan about was that we didn't lose our sh*t over a 1-1 at Walsall, of all places.

Deserved their point, however.

Thought the playing surface was a bit poor.
Looked like one of the stewards was looking for a punch up standing right in front of our fans whilst the match was going on.
I was sitting behind the Charlton dugout and had a clear view of the away end, I would say the away stand was 3/4 full.
Away supporters are housed in the Extra Bet Stand at
one end of the ground, where around 2,000 away supporters can be accommodated.
So I still reckon we had about 1500 there. But who cares, we move on.
Yes I know thanks. Point is, I was there and it was easily more than half full. Three quarters full I'd say.
thank goodness there are official away figures these days
every game the guesstimate is miles over the official figure
i'm sure they're not making our numbers smaller and everyones larger

Even the club had 1000 in there :-)
